A Healthier You

This new year we think of the many things to work on and that includes our career path, relationships, money matters, spirituality and of course our health. Most people concentrate on one or two aspects- career and relationships and they all forget that they need to be healthy inside and out to cope with the challenges each aspect may present to them. Being healthy is very important because illness can be felt easily when we neglect the needs of our body.

How to start being healthy then? Here are some ways to do it:

- Start your day with a healthy breakfast. Nutrition experts always remind everybody to have breakfast consisting of fruit, whole grain bread, tea or coffee, old fashioned oatmeal. This will give energy enough to carry out one's work for the day. This also helps regulate our blood sugar.
- Refrain from drinking soda and switch to natural fruit juices which help sweep away toxins that are housed in our colons for a long time. Fruits are alkaline and they help reduce acidity in our body.
- If you want to have a glowing skin, try to have fresh green salad and fruits everyday. Raw food contains enzymes, which reduces as we age, that help digest our food when it comes in contact with our digestive system. This prevent other diseases to form inside our body. Furthermore, these kind of food eliminates toxins and acidity from our body making our skin healthier and more supple.
- Try to reduce consumption of sugary food such as desserts: cakes, muffins, white bread with icing, ice cream, salad with lots of creams and milk. Sugar destroys healthy cells including our collagen. The result: Wrinkled skin at an early age.
- Exercise is a must. Work out for thirty minutes 3x a week. You can do weight lifting, strengthening exercises. You can opt to run for a change if you become bored working out in a gym. The key is wait for thirty minutes after you work out, then eat healthy food. Do not make a mistake of grabbing a burger after a work out. You will only put on what you have eliminated after exercising. A leaner body is healthier and sexier. You will get lots of attention everywhere you go.
- Meditate. Your mind needs to be healthy too. Have a fifteen minute break or silence by sitting or lying in your bed. Close your eyes and think of nothing. If you know of some breathing techniques to calm your self better do it. It is good to have a regular meditation period to allow your mind to rest. Don't you know that you gain power when meditating regularly? That power can be used to program your mind. Remember that your future depends on what you think now, habitually. It is best to purify your mind and think only of good thoughts to ensure a bright future.
- Maintain good relationships with your family members, office workers, friends and God. Bless those people who you think harm you emotionally or physically. This way, healing takes place and you can always move on. Resentment, bitterness, anger bring only illness to those who experience them for a long time. You lose your power when you allow them to remain in you.
- Know and accept your true self. Knowing who you are and accepting all your flaws ensure your victory in life. Doing so helps you recognize your needs, wants, talents, skills and purpose in life. You can be your best self when you are free from other people's dictates. You alone know what is good for you. Try to contact your higher self during meditation to know your true purpose in life.

Do consult your physician before changing your diet, lifestyle or starting a new exercise. It is best to know what is going on first inside your body. What is good for others may not be for you. A healthier you is just waiting to unfold and you are now called to undergo a revised edition of you. This time, it will be a healthier you.
