Conquerer of Mount Everest, Sir Ed Hillary,recovering in hospital from a fall

Iconic New Zealander, Sir Edmund Hillary - Sir Ed to Kiwis, the man who conquered Mount Everest in 1953 and nearly upstaged the coronation of Queen Elizabeth the Second, recently suffered a fall and is recovering in hospital.The 87 yr old recently returned from his last trip to Nepal. Lady Hillary said he was in a comfortable condition and is improving daily.

NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark accompanied Sir Ed on a trip to Antarctica last January. She said "the whole country is monitoring his recovery.He is a national icon and there is no one we love more."
