CNN Are they for real??

reporting | Slanted News

Is it just me or does anyone else notice the manner in which CNN reports the results from the Primaries as they come in?
Every time Obama wins a state they will say "Obama wins Bum Fuck Egypt with a majority of black voters in that state"

But when it's Hillary they say "Hillary won NY" they don't say "Hillary won in NY due to the Caucasions/Women voters in that state"

It is blatant the disdain they show and it is also blatant their total dislike of Obama. They don't care too much for Hillary but at least with her they attempt to treat her with some measure of respect because she was once a famous presidents wife!!

Slanted news is not new to any of us...but they should label themselves...CNN = Can't Notice News as it happens! They should be cheering for Obama, this way when he wins they will be able to have at least 4 years of more slanted news. CNN should have their license revoked as a credible source of news.

When they predict the States most likely to vote for Obama they predict based on race...when Obama wins a state that is majority white CNN acts all surprised! Seems to me they should focus on the content of what Obama has to say...but NAH, wont happen, because CNN chooses to make it a "race" issue. It is NOT the candidates themselves making race an issue. I will no longer watch CNN. It's bad enough that our "leader" lies, but that CNN, by not reporting the news as they should, are no longer a reputable resource!

What's up with my blog not posting??

Sassys

It shows up then disapears when I go to my blog site? Hellooooo??

IntricateGirl's picture

I don't know.

I read and watch MSNBC rather than CNN, and it's been different there. Sure, they will come out doing the same thing you mentioned. It's all "Oh geez. I don't know how long Obama can keep going, especially since he has no shot at winning over any Latinos." But then they turn right around and say how lousy Clinton is doing, how many elections she WILL lose, and then having to apologize for saying that they are "pimping out" Chelsea for campaign purposes (and actually, they kind of are). I mean, the amount of crap I've heard pass as news has been unreal. I think all the news channels have gotten into the gossip game, because tabloids are what sell nowadays.

The truth is, I don't care for Clinton at all. And according to the news media, I must be so horribly repressed and think a woman has no business being President. 'Cause EVERY woman is voting for Hillary. Yeah. Uh-huh. Boy, have they got me pegged. *rolling eyes*

You make my point beautifully here! I am NOT voting for Hilary, but to me it's not an issue what her gender is. I just don't believe in her as much as I do Obama. I honestly think that some new blood that hasn't been tainted, would do this country a world of good. Now when it comes down to the General elections, if Obama is not the nominee and Hilary is our only choice, then I will vote for her because another 4 years with the dreaded Republicans wont do!! But CNN and CO are so obviously anti Democrat that it brings out the fighter in me. At least since the Primaries began we have gotten a bit of a break on the dreaded "Britney Spears NON news" And as far as the Clintons pimping their daughter out to the news hounds goes...Bush is sitting President and his daughters are all over the news with NON news items such as "weddings" etc. The dumbing down of the news is disgusting to me...time to start buying a real newspaper!

I, for one, will not.

If Obama is not chosen, I will not vote for Hillary. I will either vote for McCain, or more likely, I will abstain. I do not agree with Clinton's views, and I cannot support her under any circumstances. And it was this viewpoint that got me called "un-American" by some Hillary supporters last night. That's right. I forgot. We are off on a holy crusade to spread the word of democracy to the entire world. Apparently it only applies if someone is voting for the same candidate you are.

Three points regarding Hillary's gender. First, I discuss politics with my children, who are still in elementary school. My daughter likes Clinton "because she's a girl and she's pretty". I told her that is not an appropriate reason to make a decision, and that women can make mistakes as easily as men can. Second, I used to be very political. I have served as a page at my state capitol, I met the governor and all the lawmakers in the house and senate, on both a state and national level. I had a hand in getting a state rep elected, and was invited to his victory party. But the thing that disillusioned me towards politics (and Christianity, I have to admit) is when one of my best friends from church told me that she would not consider voting for me, because men are meant to be the leaders. Just as I don't want to elect someone because of their gender, I don't want to exclude them either. Third, a woman I met last night made an excellent statement. She was an African-American woman. Some people are telling her that she has to vote for Hillary because she's a woman (indeed, one gentleman led with that exact argument for Clinton). Others are telling her to vote for Obama because he's black. She said that Obama is bi-racial. So she does not see his race as an issue to be considered. However, she specifically dismisses the argument that she must vote for Hillary because she's female. She said that she hoped we were past such nonsense as voting for a candidate because of their race or gender. I add a big amen to that.

And because this comment isn't long enough already, let me give my thoughts on Hillary's experience. I've had experience with an ingrown toenail. I'll pass on round two. ;)

And apparently I can't spell her name IG!!! ACK!

Well I have to say good for you...however I will NOT vote for another Republican under any circumstances. McCain is positively dangerous in his vehemence towards the war, and I just don't think he sees any way out of it, so he chooses to prolong it. It kills me that the Conservatives don't deem him conservative enough! We need someone in office that will bring back some sort of credibility to our reputation in this world. McCain can't and wont do that. HiLLary probably wont do that either. Obama stands the best chance of doing that and it wont be because he's a man, and it sure as hell wont be because he's a black man. It will be because he's a man with an actual plan! He really could unite this country, and that alone is worthy of my vote.

I don't watch CNN

And, thankfully, the news channel I watched only skirted the race issue, seeming surprised that Hillary got the Latino votes that she did. But, ya, they did point it out when each side got white or black votes.

Spooky they also said that Obama

Sassys

They said that Obama would lose in Washington State because he wouldn't get the "Oriental" folks to vote for him...needless to say they were wrong...they "predict" all kinds of crap and present it as "fact". It amazes me that they are even considered a news source at all!

spookyyank's picture

Oriental????

Are you kidding me??? Did they actually use that word???? Ok, well, I'm glad I don't have cable. I'd probably have turned it on since we didn't get much coverage last night at all - just the very basic facts on the l1 o'clock news. What asshats!

LOL Spooky they even

Sassys

showed an old oriental lady saying "I vote for the white lady" I watched this with a friend of mine and both of us were blown away by the sheer audacity of it all. The way in which they are attempting to "sway" our opinions is insulting in it's outright bigotry.

American Rhetoric Review's picture

sorry Sassys, but I don't think Obama has a clue

He talks about change but there are no specifics as to what that means. He as of yet hasn't laid out a plan other than one built off of one Hillary has laid out. I think the "white male" syndrome has worked well for Obama, god knows they will take him over a woman in a position of power.

Obama thinks he has been picked on and abused by the Clinton campaign... Look out below it’s a long fall. The republicans are going to chew him up and show him as a prize trophy. There has been very little testing of his skills and his ability to take the heat. I will vote for whom ever the Democrat nominee may be but I don't think Obama will make it through the swift boaters and the dirt storm we all are so familiar with dished by the republican party...

For those who say they won't vote for Hillary I suggest you rethink that stand.... Unless of course you like a supreme court made up of right wing nuts!

Thank you for visiting American Rhetoric Review

I see your point AR, but let's be patient here:)

Sassys

I too will vote for Hillary versus any of the Republicans. Obama HAS been a target to a degree, but only in the sense that Hillary is feeling the heat. I do think that Obama would handily beat McCain any day of the week. I also believe that Hillary can beat him too. So either way I think we Dems will be on the right track.

CNN...is it owned by

National Trash? The news is just that...news....not opinion...not conjecture....not some whimsical thought...but the cable news programs are getting to be more tabloid than news.....

I like Obama and Clinton. If you go to the official sites of all 4 candidates both Obama and Cinton spell out their plans in far more detail than McCain and Huckabee. I could hardly figure out what McCain stands for and about all I found on Huckabee's site was his biography. Obama has a lot to say and I like his message of "hope"...Lord knows we need it....after the last 7 years of feeling like someone pulled the plug.

Great points Mz Zola!

Sassys

CNN And Fox "News" both are far too tabloid (ish?) for anyone to believe their labels any longer. I would be ok with Hillary OR Obama...I tend to prefer Obamas fresh perspectives over the "tried and almost true"..The plug is still to complete its draining, and by the time Bush leaves office it will take the Dems another 4 years (if we are lucky) to clean up the mess, just the "Budget" BILLIONS!! We used to be the country that would loan the money and now we are in debt to other countries and unless something drastic is done our grandkids will be mired for years to come. And that's just our money woes...don't get me started on little things like Global Warming! *Sigh*

ms zola's picture

The Problem

with Hillary (and I like hillary) is she brings so much history to the table that I am afraid the republicans will have a heyday...also....there is so much division over her and the Whitewater affair...Bill's trysts and her vote on the Iraq War that the media will chew her up and spit her out. Obama has far less history for the Republicans to bark at but they will hound him over his lack of experience. I like to think that the senator from Illinois can be compared to another senator from Illinois who didn't have much experience when he became president and that was Abraham Lincoln.

American Rhetoric Review's picture

Abraham Lincoln??? Obama is no Abraham Lincoln

LOL, this is a bit of a stretch!!! and that was a way way way different time..... We are in deep shit here and my concern is what the changes will be that will take us out of this mess.

Republicans are going to have a heyday with Obama's Drug use and his involvement with the slum lord.... I think those are going to be major problems.... We'll see

Thank you for visiting American Rhetoric Review

He may not be a Lincoln AR however

Sassys

Most Americans have a past that is not by any stretch of the imagination immaculate. I know that not all Americans are running for the White House, but we tend to forgive certain actions, like past drug use. Slum lords? What does that mean? I must have missed something:(

Mz Zola is right about Hillary

Sassys

I too like Hillary, but her history (and her hubbys)is far more recent and more fresh in the American psyche, the Republicans will skewer her for sure. Besides he's waaaaaay cuter than Abe was:)

ms zola's picture

Why not?

Obama is a good speaker...even an eloquent speaker.....both men took a hard stance on an unpopular war (Lincoln spoke out against the Mexican/American War) Neither man came from a wealthy background in fact both came from a rather middle class background.....Obama spoke at the Democratic convention in '04 and I thought what he said about our troops said a lot about him:

"When we send our young men and women into harm's way, we have a solemn obligation not to fudge the numbers or shade the truth about why they're going, to care for their families while they're gone, to tend to the soldiers upon their return, and to never ever go to war without enough troops to win the war, secure the peace, and earn the respect of the world".

I love the way he speaks Mz Zola!

Sassys

He is so eloquent, even if he is reading a speech, he makes it look easy. "Not to fudge the numbers" they fudged numbers, and they are the most fudgeingest administration this sad nation has seen since "Tricky Dick..aka...Nixon" AR may be right in that it takes dishonest to beat dishonest. Hillary has a background that is questionable, but she may pull it off...and if she does, she should have Obama as VP!! Now there's a winning ticket!
