Haromoni@ ... Why I Love That Stupid Show!

Haromoni@, circa April 2008.
YO's rating: A- | Having seen very few "Haromoni@" episodes (mainly because Japanese TV is cordoned off from the rest of the world save for Veoh or YouTube clips, if that), we can add little to CK's H!P Blog's already enthusiastic appraisal other than to say this type of TV show needs to be on US screens. Haronomi@ reminds us much of the late 1950s when these talk-music-comedy shows were very popular. Japan seems to be frozen in time in this regard, and it is refreshing compared to aimless, empty American TV shows of the present century. Haromoni@ also appears to keep all the Hello Project units high in the public eye; one wonders of Tsunku and the girls are paid appearance fees, or if it works the other way around to promote sales of H!P merchandise. Either way, Japanese fans are the big winners. Chris is also correct about getting hooked on Japanese TV if you visit there. Some of us (not Chris) stayed at the claustrophobic Akihabara Capsule Inn, spending many a restful hour tucked inside the comfy and quiet spaceship-tube sleepers viewing sumo wrestling and, yes, Haromoni@, on tiny TVs. Too bad TV Tokyo keeps all this bottled up in Japan.
