When we started building our house, I had plenty of house painting ideas. I knew that I wanted the house yellow with white trim, which I thought would give a cool and refreshing look.

Inside, we wanted some warmth, so we went for honey white, which has a hint of orange, and apple white, with a hint of green. All in all, I'm pleased with the paint choices. The only place we made an error is with my daughter's bedroom, which should have been yellow. As I discovered, citronella yellow is not the same thing. It has more green than yellow.

We've toughed it out and she's happy with her room, but it was a close call.
