Chinese New Year is Jan. 29th this year. My family in Singapore are surrounded by Chinese New Year decorations and preparations. I miss celebrating CNY; we hadn't celebrated it since my grandparents fatal car crash when I was 11 years old. I miss my po-po and gong-gong. Red packets, lots of food, big parties thrown in the house, lots of relatives, new clothes was such a treat! It will be my baby's culturing to his other half this new year's. We are thinking of going to Chinatown to see the parade - not sure if I'm going to visit my relatives out here... I feel rather uncomfortable if they gave me hongbao/angbao packets just because my parents have cultured me to not accept payment from anyone related to me and for me to be the one that pays. Weird I know... I still am excited to go see some dancing acrobatic dragons and be excited for New Year's again just because I'm spending it with my love.
