Check from Uncle Sam in Sight?

A check from Uncle Sam may be in sight this summer!

On Thursday, January 24, 2008, house leaders and the Bush administration agreed on a way to stimulate the United States economy, and they're giving money to you - as long as the bill passes....

You're eligible if you're single and make less than $75,000, or are married and your family brings in less than $150,000.

You'll get up to $600 per person, up to $1,200 per couple, and an additional $300 for each child in your family.

The government wants people to spend, and to put the money back into the economy.

The tax rebates will be worth $100 billion dollars.

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson says the IRS could start giving out checks within 60 days of when the economic stimulus package is enacted.

Paulson says if the bill is enacted by mid-February, people could see checks by the middle of summer.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't turned down money yet. But I have absolutely no interest in taking it to my nearest Best Buy and getting a TV that I don't need. I think it's $100 billion that's absolutely wasted.

I was talking with my husband the other day, and I actually came up with a plan that doesn't seem to have any drawbacks. Of course, I'm not running for office, so nobody is going to listen anyway. ;)
