Catch up on your sleep at church!

Today is Sunday. I went to church this morning and I noticed something that I notice every single Sunday: people sleeping, zoning, doodling and generally not paying attention.

So what is it about Sunday morning services that seems to send us all to dreamland?

Is it because the services are too long? Is it because the music is slow and boring? Is it because the sermon is hard to follow? Is it because there is little interaction during the service?

I work with teenagers and I know that they have expressed to me that they are bored to death with the way church services are conducted. They are bored with slow hymns. They are bored with sermons that are irrelevent to their lives. They are bored with not having a role in the worship.

What do you think? I'm interested in other perspectives - Christian and non Christian alike.

If you never or rarely attend church services, what would make you want to go? What would make you want to come again? If you go regularly, what do you wish would be done differently?

I would LOVE some input here. I'm doing a great deal of personal research about modern Christianity, churches and trends. Your input would be very valuable to me.

A lot of churches fall into

A lot of churches fall into this trap. Sure the people up there singing are enjoying themselves, and the people preaching are as well. An hour is long enough.
