Can I Puke a Little?

I normally watch The Today Show when my son is in preschool and my daughter is napping. It's my guilty pleasure with a couple of cups of joe in the mornings. Today, though, I ended up finding myself switching over to The View while The Today Show was preempted so that that channel 8 could cover the happenings over at Wimbledon. Great. The last thing this bitter old wench wants to watch is a bunch of lithe, beautiful young athletes hitting balls at each other while becoming devastatingly wealthy...so I changed the channel. Not such a great idea...I should have stuck to the pretties on the court.
One of the topics the ladies of The View covered today was how important it is to take care of yourself as a mother with young kids in order to be a better mother. DUH! And then a couple of the ladies went on to whine about how they feel guilty leaving their kids behind to get a massage or pedi or how they don't have enough time to take care of themselves because they are watching their kids. PUHLEASE! I know for a fact that these women employ top of the line nannies and do not feel an inch of guilt when they go do lunch or spa days. I want to hear REAL moms talk about how they don't have time to eat because they are taking care of their kids and can't sit down to pee let alone have a pedicure. Yeah, real moms who deserve to complain about how hard it is to be a mom because we have to do it all on our own without the bennie of a nanny on call to help out whenever the need should arise.
I have friends in the biz who have never so much as lost an hour of sleep at night or in the morning because their night nannies take care of odd hour waking babies. Moms who have had more facials than diaper changing sessions with their babes. And yes, I can admit that at times I get jealous. I would LOVE to have time to pamper myself, breathe, take a nap, feel like a woman.....who wouldn't? But I don't have this luxury and neither do most moms.....so watching celeb moms complain about how hard they have it makes me puke just a little bit in my mouth. A slight regurge. *Sigh* Maybe I should stop watching TV altogether....

LMAO, MM!!!
And hear, hear!!! My heart just bleeds for those hard-working celebrity moms, working their little hearts out to pay for their nannies, their maids, their personal assistants, their mani's & pedi's and facials and full-body wraps. I just cannot imagine the stress they are under. As for me, all I do is work 9 hours a day, commute 2 hours a day, clean my house, do my laundry, mow my grass and pull weeds til I think I'll scream, fix the plumbing, the wonky doors, the broken windows (that neighbor kid is gonna die), the worn out screens, and whatever the hell else needs doing. I don't have to worry about an adoring public taking my picture while I'm shopping (horrors) or making myself beautiful for that same adoring public so, I don't have to worry with the high-priced spa treatments. I can just plop my plain old, pitiful self down on the couch and do my own frickin' hands and feet and wax my own hairy legs and slap just any old drug-store concoction onto my unfamous, unimportant face - after I've finished all my other chores, of course.
Puke, is right.
Dear god, what would I do if I had kids? How the hell do you do it, MM?
I saw that episode, Modelmom!
I saw it, too, but thought it was funny how big a debate it became. I remember back when my sons were little and I'd go out to get my nails done. Between working too much and raising three boys, I'd actually fall asleep in the chair!
Ya, I have a problem with the well off to wealthy set complaining about this stuff. After all, it is their choice to take the jobs that involve long hours and travel!

Is the arrogance...here we "normal" people are in the midst of a very bad recession and they are complaining about trivial CRAP! It takes everything in my power not to watch the "poor, poor" celebrities and their egotistical selfishness, this is why I have become a rabid C-Span watcher...at least there I can throw my shoe at the screen for the "right" reasons:( Like when a Republican gets on his high horse and complains that Americans "are NOT in a recession" then it's OFF with my shoe, ya know?
Sassy, Spooky and PW!!!!
god, i miss you ladies and your comments and posts when i am off BP for a while. you are always so RIGHT ON and hilarious to boot! seriously....i agree one thousand percent with each of you and thank you wholeheartedly for getting my back on this!
i feel like such a bitter biotch when i get up in arms about this kind of stuff, but seriously! those of us living in the REAL WORLD just dont have time energy or money to sit around in a hen party of high falooters complaining about how hard life is when they are actually paying others to live life for them! LOL! us real gals are down and dirty with life, house poor, slaving for the kids, trying not to declare bankruptcy....hell, nowadays we are (at least i am!) scrounging under car seats for loose change to buy GAS!
for shame....those ladies should have stuck their manolos in their mouths that morning.

Good grief
I'm glad I didn't see this!!!
I'm divided on the idea of having a nanny though. Of course it would be nice to sleep...ever...but if someone else does all the child care doesn't that make the child, well, theirs?
The whole thing is weird.
