Butterfly Kisses

The first time I heard Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle, I was driving and I had to pull over to the side of the road. I was crying and remembering all those beautiful moments that I shared growing up with my Daddy. I was overwhelmed with emotion because I knew that my daughters would not be as lucky as I. Their father had decided the responsibility of a family was strenuous and he left. He is still their father, but not their Daddy. He is not there everyday to kiss the tears away, to reassure her in the dark when she cries out from a nightmare or to see her off to her first day of school.

I thank God that my father was there for me. He was there to catch me when I fell and to kiss the booboo's away. Throughout the good and bad times, he is still there. At times, I made him proud and at other times...sadly I disappointed him. Regardless, he is always there for me and my children and for that we all will be eternally grateful.

For any fathers that may be reading this.... love your daughters, no matter what. Your love affair with your wife may have ended. You may have been emotionally battered, or physically and/or verbally assaulted, but always remember... she is and will always be your daughter. You were blessed with her, she is a gift on borrowed time. Love her and teach her how she should be loved, so that the cruel world doesn't taint her. Treat her like a delicate flower, be her sunlight and nourish her soul. Show her by example how to love herself. Don't walk away from her too.

You may not be there everyday, but make the time to be there as much as you can. The time you invest in her now, will determine your relationship with her in the future. If you want to be at her high school graduation, college graduation and walk her down the aisle in her wedding...then give her all the time you can now. Trust me, you will never regret it.

My parents divorced also when I was 12 years old, but my Dad was the one who took the responsibility of raising us and this hurt me alot not being with them both, but my Dad is really a great Man.

Especially when you look around and see that most men divorce the wife and the kids...
