BRITNEY SPEARS - A Bad Mother?

Child Protective Services Called on Britney Spears

In February Britney was caught driving with her 4 moth old son on her lap. Now, two months later, the same child is suffering from a fractured skull!

According to reports from Mirror.co.uk,
Six-month-old Sean smashed his head falling to the ground from his high chair. His injury emerged when Britney, 24, took him to a doctor six days later after he became groggy and tearful.

Suspicious medical officials filed a complaint to the Los Angeles child welfare department and the couple were questioned by investigators who were escorted by police.
Britney and husband Kevin Federline, 28, have been accused of poor parenting before. If found guilty of ill treatment or neglect they could receive a warning - or even lose their baby.

But the poor parenting rumors don’t stop there! In March Britney shocked diners at a Los Angeles restaurant by changing her baby's full nappy on a table. Pot-smoking Kevin has also been criticized for going out partying after Sean was born.
The couple have endured marriage troubles in recent months with several reported bust-ups inside their luxury home.

So what’s the deal here? Is she a bad mother or a good mother who makes bad choices?

I knew about the fall from the high chair thing

But I didn't know it took her SIX DAYS to get it checked out. Wow.

Supposedly she's looking into suing the high chair company because the back of the chair broke.

Do you think she's really pregnant again?

I've always said that people should have to get a license to have kids. ;-) Some people just aren't ready or able to care for kids... these two should've stuck to dogs instead. *sigh* And I actually really liked Britney (pre-Federline)... oh well.

In the version I heard, she had him checked out immediately, but he started sleeping a LOT so six days later, she had him checked again. And if she's pregnant, she's been drinking. Someone caught pics of it. Not that it really stops celebrities. Look at Gwyneth Paltrow.

Reality, I don't know about the whole "good mother who makes bad choices" statement. Very honestly, I have to wonder if there is such a thing. Now I'm DEFINITELY not saying that mothers never make a single mistake. We all do, and I am certainly including myself in that group. But my errors tend to run in the "Gee, it was really stupid to give them Mountain Dew right before bedtime." rather than "His crib needed put together but a screw was missing, and it was late, and I figured it would be safe just for a few nights." If you are doing the very best you can for your child, and you keep ending up with HUGE boneheaded mistakes, you need to come to the conclusion that you're not the best at this mothering thing, and get some assistance. And in my own personal view, that's where Britney is. I don't think she's a horrible mother. She doesn't do things to purposefully hurt her child. But she really doesn't think it through either. I just don't see her ever ending up on my list of great moms.

But isn't it a little

But isn't it a little out of control? I mean the things shes doing are not "little accidents". Driving with a child on your lap is totally unacceptable no matter what. There is no excuse for it.
And I think if she would have brought the kid in to get treatment immediately the doctor would have determined that the baby's skull was fractured.
The entire situation discusts me.
I wrote the "Good mom that makes poor decisions" comment to remain neutral.

Oh I think it's totally out of control. I mean, even giving her the benefit of the doubt in every situation, she's still totally blown it. I can't stick her in the horrible mother category because she isn't one like you described a few days ago that leaves her kid in the car while she gets her nails done. But don't mistake that for a pass. Her child is just as much in danger as one of those kids because no matter what, her kid keeps ending up in unsafe situations. The end result is the same, but the road getting there was not as malicious.

I figured you probably put it as a neutral comment, but for me personally, I don't want to remain neutral. There are people that should not be parents. Most of these people use the words, "It's good enough" on a regular basis. That can't apply to kids. The car seat is never "good enough". It's right or it's not. Ya know?

As far as the exam right after it happened, this is one where I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt- FOR NOW. I mean, if she says she took the child in, that's pretty easily checked. It will come out very soon if she says she took him in but didn't. I had already considered that they should have seen it on an xray, but I know that's not always the case. My husband and father both had hairline fractures on different parts of their body, and both times it wasn't discovered until later, even though they went to the hospital immediately. So I know it happens, even though I do still find it difficult to believe.

Horrible mother

Britney is a horrible mother. There is no excuse for her behaviour and it sickens me that Social Services hasn't investigated her. Anybody else would have had their child taken away from them. It's amazing what fame & money let you get away with. I know there is no such thing as the perfect parent, or perfect parenting styles, but driving with your child on your lap, and now this skull fracture.....and did Sean Preston really fall off of his highchair? Or is there some abuse going on? I can't help but wonder. Or maybe somebody forgot to tell Brit that babies should be placed IN the highchair, not ON the tray.

"I've always said that people should have to get a license to have kids." very true. i can see two problems: 1. bad parenthood. there are people and people. you cannot expect for everyone to be good at. you can try very hard and still don't make a big deal out of it. and 2. celebrity get away with almost anything. this is annoying. us, the "mortals", like you said... doing a minor crime will cost us a leg and an arm. it's just not fair.
thanks to weight loss i am not a fatty anymore.
