Breath Watching

Learning to control our breath is a great way to maintain good health. It is believed that in normal circumstances, we are not inhaling and exhaling hard enough to fulfill the body's requirements.

If practiced regularly, deep breathing can boost the energy levels of any person, and thus increase alertness and concentration levels. It will also increase your breathing capacity making the respiratory system more powerful. It also gives mental peace, and a feeling of contentment.

In short, there will be an improvement in fitness levels. Here "regularly" implies atleast two months with 2-3 daily sittings of 10 minutes each, focussing on simple breath watching. More advanced techniques are not recommended for a beginner.

The only point to be kept in mind is that while inhaling we should slowly inflate our stomach, and while exhaling we should slowly deflate it.

This is a free technique available to us. Unfortunately, people don't take it seriously.

Think about it, what possible harm can it cause? In most people, the only factor stopping them is impatience and lack of faith.

Of course this isn't a complete remedy or a complete exercise within itself. It is simply a way to prevent certain conditions, and to maintain decent mental and physical health.

If someone has certain other health complications, it is best advised to seek professional medical opinions first, and then start a new activity.
