Bollywood:Made In China !

If you thought Palika Bazaar and Nehru Place in New Delhi were the havens of pirated Bollywood CDs & DVDs, wait till you reach China.
On the roads of China, it is common to see Bollywood flicks being peddled for Rs 42 each.
This, after FICCI had reached the conclusion that the piracy issue was extremely serious in India with yearly losses amounting to close to Rs 1,700 crore!
"China does it in a very organised way. It sees piracy as a revenue stream which brings in tens of millions of dollars every year, and they have no scruples doing it," says filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.
In fact, China makes it possible for millions of Indians to get new Bollywood releases at dirt cheap rate," he adds.
"There is a phenomenal demand for Bollywood films in the entire of Africa and Central Asia."
"In fact, Aishwarya can contest against Hamid Karzai and win. In such a scenario, our own lack of stringent intellectual property and copyright laws plays in their favour."
With ever increasing demand for Bollywood flicks and new markets opening up every day piracy will increase.
The only way to counter this serious threat to film industry is to sensitise people."
