Diet diary....

Dietary fat intake should be reduced. Cooking oils used must be minimal in quantity. Saturated fat sources such as ghee, cream, cheese, etc, are best avoided.

Diet should have 15-20 per cent of the calories contributed by protein. Legumes, non-fat dairy products, fish, skinless poultry and lean meats low in fat are preferable.

Carbohydrate has to come from whole grain breads or cereals, beans, fruits (not more than two per day),wheat pasta, brown rice and vegetables. Dietary fibre present in these helps control and maintain sugar levels by allowing a slower rate of sugar absorption. Fruits like banana, grapes, custard apple and mango should be avoided or taken in very small quantities.

Avoid feasting and fasting, as both may be detrimental to your health.

Seek professional help for the right portion size.

Flex your limbs....

A yoga expert maintains that practising certain exercise daily for about 30-45 minutes helps in stimulating the pancreas, liver, kidney, etc, whereby the body is able to produce an adequate amount of insulin. In case of Type I diabetes, the exercise help the body absorb insulin for better utilisation of body tissues.
A brisk work is also beneficial.

Slow, deep and long breathing (about 20 times daily) using more of the diaphragm and abdomen provides good stimulation for the pancreas.

According to some fitness expert ,try moderate exercises. Avoid movements that involve jumping and running as that may result in retinopathy. Brisk walk is a good option,as is using the treadmill on a moderate speed.

Take care of your footwear as the slightest injury can lead to gangrene.

A pre and post-workout meal is a must.
