Fairfield Resorts has grown quite considerably over the last 30 years. It started as a one location operation in Arkansas, 1966. At this point they were selling subdivided lots, bespoke houses in created communities and whole ownership condominiums. Come 1979 they decided to be part of the timeshare business revolution and sold what they coined as FairShare. (Details from the web release about fairshare will follow). Fairfield has played a central part in the creation of the American time share industry. Today fairfield has a large network of facilities. Helping over half a million families to enjoy the fairfield resorts and its lifestyle. Vacationing once a year at one of more than 70 world-class resorts in 21 states and U.S. territories. Fairfield business base is in Orlando. they have about 9,000 employees. Fairfield wishes to tell people that they provide esquisite Product Quality; tropical beaches to pure Colorado powder to golf and golden sands and provide high quality vacation experiences. From vacation ownership condominiums, to hotel rooms and suites, to vacation rentals of villas, cottages, bungalows, campgrounds, city apartments, fractional private residences or luxury destination clubs and boats. The web release which this all comes from also notes fairfield resorts high standards, unique products and unrivalled hospitality.

Details on FairShare follow: "a deeded ownership interest that provided an annual resort vacation at a specific location during a specific time period each year. FairShare owners could "exchange" these preset locations and dates through Fairfield's internal exchange program, also know as FAX (FairShare® Exchange of Fairfield Resorts, Inc.). While owners could visit other Fairfield resorts through FAX or non-affiliated resorts with the help of timeshare exchange companies like RCI (Resort Condominiums International), most remained locked in to a specific annual vacation week, also known as fixed-week timeshare. 1991 In 1991, the company forever changed the face of the timeshare industry by introducing FairShare Plus®, a revolutionary concept of points-based exchange. It was becoming apparent that people needed more flexibility with their time off — in their vacation length, their choices of locations, when they travelled, and even the size of the unit they stayed in. FairShare Plus offered consumers substantially greater flexibility through a yearly allotment of points that could be "spent" in increments for custom-sized accommodations at any time of the year and for varying lengths of stay. Today, FairShare Plus is the third largest timeshare exchange network in the world (behind RCI and Interval International), and members can use their points both for resort stays and a wide variety of travel/leisure products including airfare, cruises, accommodations and specialized leisure activities and attractions."
