I stayed away from the "big" new dramas for the last couple of years -- Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and so on -- because I didn't want to get hooked. But I acquiesced a few weeks back and checked out Grey's Anatomy and... I'm hooked.

See, the thing is that I knew I would be. And since I live alone and none of the people I know watch the same shows I do, I have no one to talk to about them. And I really don't have the time to surf all over the Internet, looking for the right forum in which to discuss them. Plus, that seems a bit desperate. Plus, I don't belong to any, so I'd have to sign-up, wait to get verified, and all that noise.

So I decided, "Hey! I write about TV and movies -- why not start my own support group there?" And I'm inviting you all! So let's get started...

Now, the site I am working on has forums and message boards and all that, as well whole fan pages/departments dedicated to specific TV shows and movies, but mainly sci-fi/horror fare. But it will be a few more weeks before it is ready to go live and I'm about to BURST if I don't gab a little about what's been going on.

[POSSIBLE SPOILERS!]

If you haven't seen the episodes lately, you might not want to read further.

I tried writing about this a few weeks back, after Izzy got that whopping check from Danny, but no one took the bait. Could you believe that?! I love that she turned it down. In fact, excepting Yang, I really think all of them probably would have done the same. Yang is the only one whose "values" are contemporary American, read: selfish and opportunistic.

I only started watching this year, so I don't know much about all the characters and relationships, but I'm hoping what's-her-face goes back to Patrick Dempsey's character and "McDreamy" is a real slime. I've actually known (far too many) people like him and they all suck. And so does the guy who's always trying to get things started -- the "tough guy" -- I can't think of his name. I've known more people like him than McDreamy, but those people all suck, too.

It's a really great show that I'm sorry I didn't start watching sooner! I tried Desperate Housewives the other night, but it just didn't catch me. I've tried watching it two or three times in fact, but it's never hooked me the way Grey's did. Maybe I just relate to the characters on Grey's more, well and the situations and setting and everything, but it has to do with the writing as well. Housewives tries too hard, in my opinion.

What does everyone else think? Before I go crazy...

okay manodogs I'm here with

Trishzen Says:

okay manodogs I'm here with you! I've been hooked on Grey's since day 1. Must of been that catchy theme music, anyway- it's Denny with an E not Danny, just so ya know :)- or maybe that was a typo.

I disagree about McDreamy I was so happy to see them get together last night, I have a big crush in him, lol!

And did you know that you can watch previously aired episodes for free on abc.com? We can be Grey's groupies together!!

WooHoo! Grey's Groupies!

Yeah, they say that at the end of each episode, but I'm on dial-up, so I can't. Heck, it takes like 30 minutes for Sci-Fi and Cartoon Network to load!

I knew it was Denny, I guess I just wasn't thinking. I totally don't want McDreamy and Dempsey's girly getting together!!! That would really suck.

I know girls are attracted to the "bad boys" and all that, but that's why so many of them are bitter and anti-men!!! I mean, if you're going to hook-up with a guy you know is going to treat you badly or hurt you, you deserve what you get and instead of holding it against all men, grow up and get over the childhood fantasies! Men are just as bad with the "knight in shining armor" routine. We want to swoop in and be the father replacement; clean up the slutty girl who drinks too much; be the father figure to the girl who refuses to act right, etc.

Dempsey and that girl belong together and they know they do! It's the classic boy/girl story: they know they'd be comfortable with one another and fall really hard, really fast, so they're chickens. They keep pretending they don't want one another -- they want the drama and "passion" of people with whom they know it won't work...

BOCK!

Greys Anatomy/Desperate Housewives

Momof3 Says:

First I have to say Patrick Dempsey is gorgeous. I've been waiting this long to see them get back together again.
The only shows I ever really watch anymore are Greys' Anatomy, Depserate Housewives, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, and The Shield.
I also have to agree with manodogs. If women want someone who they know is going to treat them bad, why complain when it happens. Isn't that what you wanted to begin with. Or did they REALLY believe or even want, to change them?

oh okay manodogs I think we

Trishzen Says:

oh okay manodogs I think we had a breach in communication there. Dempsey is McDreamy and McDreamy's old friend (the plastic surgeon) is McSteamy I forget what his character's real name is. I think I was confused about who you were taking about. So just to get this straight- we are both in favor of Meredith and McDreamy together, yes?

A McMess

manodogs Says:

oOo! Yes, we are both in favor of Meredith and Dempsey's character. I thought McSteamy and McDreamy the McSame! Just a play on the name.

Yeah, I don't care for either McSteamy or Yang (Sandra Oh's character). They're both underhanded and opportunistic and either would sell their mother down the river for a nickel! Which actually makes them the closest to real doctors...

And Las Vegas

manodogs Says:

I'm all about some Las Vegas, too. I've heard Men in Trees is really good, but there was never anything on Fridays except Las Vegas for the last 3 years and I'm all into it now. Plus, everyone -- and I mean everyone -- is HOT, hot, hot.

Grey's is the only show I

Trishzen Says:

Grey's is the only show I must see, but my fiance is a Battlestar Galatica fan so I have to see that every week too, lol. Other than that I like to catch NCIS and Desperate Housewives but it's not a must.

Heroes

manodogs Says:

I've tried and tried BG, but I just don't like it. And I'm big on Sci-Fi, as we all know...

For me, it's Grey's, Heroes, Ghost Hunters, Dead Like Me, Eureka (when it was on)... no wonder I don't have a social life! I refuse to leave the house because I have a show I "have" to see on everyday!

I'm with you on BG- I'd

Trishzen Says:

I'm with you on BG- I'd leave it...if I could, but it's not nice to be a tv hog, lol. The funny thing is that I'm not into sci fi at all really-not usually anyway-but now I'm totally addicted to Star Trek The Next Gen. reruns, 4 episodes come on a day!! I'm such a geek :) If that doesn't make you feel better about your life I dunno what will!

My Life

manodogs Says:

Hahaha! I guess, in some strange way, it does. Thanks!

If you haven't checked out Heroes yet, you simply must. It's one of the best things on TV, whether you were ever into comic books or not.
