hobby shop

I knew a guy who started his own business. His idea was to sell racing related stuff, like slot cars, car models and racing games. I pondered how he could afford to open his own business. He ended up concentrating on remote controlled cars as his main product, he even started hosting parking lot races on the weekends.

drinking!

I've been drinking more than usual lately. Of course, the usual is none, so drinking anything would be more, by definition.

Unrelated to this, I've also read some interesting articles lately. One of them tells the tale of Andre the Giant's gargantuan appetite for alcoholic beverages. The man literally averaged 3 beers a minute one night!

false drama!

Sometimes when there's nothing on the tube, I'll catch myself watching a mechanically oriented show, such as orange county choppers, or west coast customs, and I enjoy them on some level, but it seems that there's always got to be some big fake drama, wether it's a conflist between employees, or they are working against a deadline, or both... usually both, anhd there's always a deadline, wich leads me to believe that the deadline is completely made up just to add suspense and drama to the show.

Gigabytes!

When does the madness end ? It seems that just five years ago, eight gigabytes was all the storage room I ever thought I'd need. I now have 80 gigs, with 30% of that free... Of course, this means that I have to dig through my hard rives and burn a handful of DVDs.. I had about 5 gigabytes of mp3 files alone! Did you know that in the mid fifties, a 5 megabyte hard drive (mega- not giga) was so big that a forklift had to be used to move it !?!

there's a new-ish site called cpushare (http://www.cpushare.com/) that is letting people sell and buy cpu resources .. basically, you sell your PC's wasted idle time. Or, you buy other people's idle CPU power. They intend to make the program a cash exchanging thing, but for now, it's CPUCoins, until they get their bugs worked out...

I want a bunny. I don't think it would work out, but they're just so cute! I think they look a little like cats, but they're... different. The unfortunate thing is that my wife is allergic to rabbits, so there's just no chance. .. I'd also like to have some quail! They're really cute, too. I used to see a lot of quail at work, w

This picture of a ship at sea riminds me of some of the fun I had in puerto penasco, mexico .. . As a kid, a snorkeled and rode a surfboard (I didn't surf, I just laid on it and paddled- quite effective, really!).. The snorkelling was really fun . .. I saw some interesting fish, and the water was just beatiful!

Hi. I don't have much to say, so I thought I'd put up this picture of a duck, and tell you that I went on a bike ride, in a park, near a zoo. I rode to a tiny lake, and fed old bread to ducks and geese. The water foul were very pleassing to the eye. That is all.

EDIT: sorry for the oversized waterfoul... bloggerparty does not appear to have a built in image sizing option (like blogger.com does) ..

cycling

So, I dragged out my mountain bikes, and got them up and running... now that it's cold enough to ride... (average temps are in the 70-80 range here in Arizona right now)

It didn't take a whole lot to get the bikes running- a tube, a good cleaning, and a little work on the chains... and my wife and I went for a ride around the park . ..that was nice...

Unfortunately , her job doesn't provide the freedom that mine does... so I've been going on rides during the day when she's at work .. .she usually doesn't get home till about 5 pm, and then there's a lot of traffic, and it's getting dark and cold. Also, we need to get lights for our bikes, and reflectors for hers . .. then maybe night riding will be possible.

crazy headache

This weekend, I had a strange and frightening experience. I had the most intense cranial pain ever- it came suddenly, and felt like blood pumping through veins in my skull, all around mt brain. After that, I still had dull pains throbbing throughout the weekend, but nothing as severe as the initial hit.

I though I may have had an aneurysm, so I did some research on that, and it is possible that I did indeed have a minor aneurysm.

television is no good for babies

so, I was reading a reecent post about a mother trying to keep her child away from the TV, and it reminded me of something...

there are many videos intended to provide a learning experience for infants and young children. I'll tell you something right now: if you think that buying these tapes will somehow give your child an advantage in the real world (i.e. school,etc..) then you need to think again.

yes, I nearly forgot to make my daily post here at bloggerparty... I'm sure you would have missed me soooo much (sarcasm intended)

Well, I'm going to keep it short and sweet, as I don't have a lot to say, and I've been a bit run down , and I've been a busy boy...
BUT-
I'm going to tell you how to get some free pearl earrings!
Bargains to avoid!

You know, I love a good deal. I scout for clearance prices whenever I shop. But there's one lesson I still haven't learned....and I should know better, as I've been burned many times before...

I should make it one of the top 10 rules of bargain hunting: Dont buy food on clearance. Seriously, every time, I end up with products that are either past their due date, ar they taste bad... When will I learn?

Stumble ?

Anyone use stumbleupon? If you do, you can stop reading now... but for the rest of you... you're in for something that can change the way you surf the internet altogether...

Basically, you click a butrton, and you're taken to a semi random website that is chosen based on your preferences. You pick the topics you'd like to see sites about , and then you either just go to totally random sites, or you can pick a topic, then you'll be taken to random sites about that topic. You also get to tell stumbleupon whether you like or dislike a site, and this will guide stumbleupon to only send you to sites that it thinks that you'll like.

Stuff, Happenings, and Goings On.

So, my job has a few more assignments for me.. in Buckeye and Casa Grande... Looks like my boss gets to go to Vegas on assignment. I'm going to learn how to set up road tubes today.. you know those tubes you see on the street for monitoring traffic? It's something that I've always been curious about, so that's cool.

In other news, my other blog has been linked to by a site called 'blog of the day' .. That's cool... I've got lots of fun videos there... I have to say this again...bloggerparty really needs to support embedded videos. This is the year 2006 (almost 2007) don't you know. It's "web 2.0".
