I know that other people must be aware of this problem, but like most, I didn't really pay attention until it hit close to home.
I have a male friend who is trying to escape a physically abusive wife. Now there's a scenerio you're not confronted with every day. Typically, we have the reverse thrust into faces almost constantly by the media.
I have been placing calls and searching the net only to discover that there isn't much in the way of support for the guys out there. I was on the verge of starting a local chapter of an online abuse network, but I sadly lack even the $15 dollars needed to become a local chapter. Not to mention lacking three people to help form a board. Being a single mom definitely has plenty of downsides.

Tip Top Scam
Submitted by theresabluej on September 20, 2006 - 6:20pm. free; website; webhosting; scam; webpageI like to make random searches and often one keyword leads to another until I can’t remember how I made a particular discovery. That was the case for www.tiptopwebsite.com.
It looks promising. Give your name, email, etc. and gain free membership. Free meaning you can get a one page website. However, if you want message boards, addition pages, the ability to add photos, etc. you have to pay up to $20. I didn’t bother to find out if that’s a monthly fee or one-time scam.
Not God’s Only Begotten Son
Submitted by theresabluej on September 8, 2006 - 5:35pm. DAUGHTER | demigod | God | GODS | Jesus | legend | Myth | sonWe’ve heard it all our lives. Jesus is the one and only son of God. Wrong! I’d like you to review the first few verses of Genesis chapter 6 in the King James version. It clearly states the sons of God, plural, took human wives. God states Himself that he had many children and that they mated with humans to create super beings whose actions were the basis for the myths we all studied in school.
The Legends of Old
Submitted by theresabluej on September 8, 2006 - 5:33pm. demigods | GODS | Greek | legend | Myth | RomanWe have all enjoyed the ancient Greek and Roman myths, or at least endured them during English class. I for one remain fascinated by Greek mythology to this day. But a Bible passage I came across recently suggests that there was more than a little truth to those myths.
In Genesis chapter 6 we find that the sons of God chose human wives and thus the stories of epic heroes were born. Imagine living in a time when Hercules roamed the land, saving the weak humans from their own follies and the whims of the gods. Imagine seeing firsthand Zeus’s lightning bolts or feeling Cupid’s arrow strike your heart. After all, if these demigods were real, then gods or angels or whatever you want to call these divine beings must have been roaming the earth right alongside them.
And The Two Shall Become One Flesh
Submitted by theresabluej on September 8, 2006 - 5:31pm. love | marriage | relationshipThis passage from Genesis chapter 2 is often interpreted to mean physically, lustfully, in the act of procreation. Speaking from personal experience I can say that this simply isn’t true.
One of the greatest surprises my husband and I had as newlyweds was to learn the true meaning of this verse. We could tell at a glance what each other was thinking, knew instinctively when our spouse needed us, and even felt each other’s pain. I felt the stitches the doctor gave him when we were married barely a week, and he felt the contraction that the pain that pushed me from 4 centimeters to 8 centimeters in one contraction during the course of bringing our first child into the world.
Not The First Black After All
Submitted by theresabluej on September 7, 2006 - 6:30pm. black | blessing | Canaan | curse | Ham | Noah | PunishmentMany report Ham as being the first black, but read Genesis 9:25-27 carefully and you will see two major holes in this claim. First, it is Canaan, not Ham, that Noah curses. Second, he is cursed to be his brothers’ servant. Nowhere is skin color mentioned as a part of this punishment. The identity of the first black remains a mystery.

Friend Of The Grape
Submitted by theresabluej on September 7, 2006 - 6:27pm. Alcoholic | Canaan | curse | drunk | friend | grape | Ham | Noah | PunishmentFrench call drunkards “A friend of the grape. Charming isn’t it? Sounds so much more pleasant than drunk or alcoholic. And who was the first “friend of the grape? Noah. Noah saved the human race, planted the first vineyard and became the first recorded instance of a human getting drunk. Which, of course, led to Ham discovering his father’s nakedness in the tent and bringing a huge curse upon his son. All because he just happened to stumble upon this “friend of the grape lying in repose in his tent.
The Rainbow
Submitted by theresabluej on September 7, 2006 - 6:25pm. flood | God | Katrina | peace | promise | RainbowWho doesn’t love a rainbow? That brightly colored symbol of hope and peace was especially welcome to those of us on the coast after Katrina. My sister even took pictures of the post-Katrina rainbow. And as I looked up in the sky, I remembered God’s promise: Never again will a flood be sent to destroy all life on earth.
Armageddon has been foretold, and it promises to be a spectacular fight before good triumphs over evil. And the earth and its inhabitants will face many natural disasters, but there will never be another global flood, although it certainly felt as if God’s wrath was raining down upon Mississippi and Louisiana during that frightful hurricane last year. Never was a rainbow and all that it promises more welcome than it was then.
Jehovah’s Witnesses And Blood
Submitted by theresabluej on September 7, 2006 - 6:23pm. blood | idol | Jehovah's Witness | meat | offeringJehovah’s Witnesses read in Genesis 9:4 that we should not eat flesh with the blood in it and take it to mean that blood is off limits to us. I take it to mean don’t eat undercooked meat, which any biologist will tell you is a sure way to get sick. No matter what you do to meat, a trace of the blood remains in it. You cannot consume meat without blood. However, proper cooking will eliminate the risk that the remaining traces would otherwise present.
Messenger Of Peace
Submitted by theresabluej on September 7, 2006 - 6:21pm. ark | dove | message | messenger | Noah | peace | ravenFor years I wondered why the raven was ignored in the story of Noah’s ark. My pastor recently explained to me that it was because the dove brought back evidence that the flood waters were abating while the raven never returned.
The dove is not merely a symbol of peace, it is a messenger of hope, bringing news that God remembers us during our trials just as He did Noah.
Gay Marriage

In a committed relationship and want the world to know it? Then you’re probably as anger as I am that gay marriages are being outlawed. The Christian God I serve promotes LOVE. I just can’t see Him seeing ANY true expression of love as being a sin.
I am a legally ordained minister offering a way around the gay marriage ban for same-sex couples longing to show the world they are committed for life: certificate of love.
Free Media, Really
Submitted by theresabluej on August 26, 2006 - 1:49pm. file sharing | FREE | graphics | MP3 | music | picture | videoAfter falling for that line more times than I care to recall, I have found a truly free source of music, videos, and pictures. I group I belong had a posting about some new add-ons for the program the group promotes. Just go to a site I had never heard of before, search for a particular screen name, and add the files to the program.
I had no interest in the add-ons being offered, but I am ALWAYS interested in sites I have never heard of (no porn, thanks). Here was the holy grail of websites. Just create a screen name and password, and any type of download you could want was instantly available, FREE! And no requests to subscribe, no instructions to get the file from another site (which ALWAYS seems to require a subscription), nothing.
