Shopping: Man's worst enemy?
Submitted by tarquad on July 24, 2006 - 5:51pmOkay, so you're hanging out with some buddies, and they ask you if you want to go to the game. They say they have four prime seats but Tod bailed on them. In your head you're thinking "DUDE NO WAY!!!"...but then you remember the commitment you made to your girlfriend in exhange for letting you go to that rock concert last weekend. You told her you'd go shopping with her(dun dun duhhhhh) ;]. Now, because we're men and we don't think two seconds into the future, that trade seemed totally one sided (in your favor). You knew it was an instant win, but now that the time has come to follow through, and you're struggling to find reasons not to do it.

L.A. loses power, Myspace fanatics lose life force
Submitted by tarquad on July 24, 2006 - 5:16pmApparently a couple days ago a blackout hit L.A. and completely knocked out the servers "Tom" uses to run his little website, which caused turmoil and widespread panic. I cannot tell you the number of instant messages and emails I received from friends, saying that they they were "going to have a panic attack!!! MYSPACE IS DOWN!"
All of this got me to start thinking. Why is myspace such a hot topic? Is it our human need to have people around us, to have friends? Is it a chance for shy people to finally take that first step and actually talk to the popular boy or girl? Is it the ability to avoid the awkwardness of first dates? To scope out people before you actually meet them? What is it that could motivate millions of people to create "about me" and "who I'd like to meet" sections? And what is it that makes people so upset when they're not on their friends "top 8?"

Vans Warped Tour '06: Will "juke" be a hit or a bust?
Submitted by tarquad on July 23, 2006 - 9:11pmWell it's that time of the year again, when the roadies roll out the amps, set up the sound systems, build the stage and let the masses of punk rockers have a field day. This year the Tour is said to be as good if not better than the others, flaunting numerous chart topping bands.
Normally I would be happy for all of those fans finally seeing their favorite bands up close and personal, even though the music isn't what I would call my favorite. But this year, I'm too busy losing sleep over the fact that my band is playing when the Tour stops in Detroit this year to even realize that the world will exist after Saturday, June 29th.
