When someone comes along and bursts your bubble,
When you’ve had your fill of pain and toil and trouble.
Then don’t give up the fight, just write.
Any day that’s short on laughter long on pain

Hi all, back again like the proverbial penny. It's been just over a year since I buried my son and the thing that has kept me sane is working as hard as I can whenever and wherever I can. For a long time work was a bastard there to be got through and endured because it paid the bills - not any more.

This week I have had my first experience of guest blogging and it was a lot of fun. If you're interested in this then piggy bank pie are looking for guest bloggers.
I wrote a post on graduating from blogging to freelance writing and how writers manage to actually get their writing done.

I was just wondering if I had those extra bits on my anatomy whether I would turn into an aggressive asshole. It is just that so many people who are agressive do have that particular anatomical extra and so much of the aggression that we see around us is often put down to testosterone overload.

I hadn't realised it had been so long since I posted on here. The last few months have been tough but I have been around here and there and trying to get back into the swing. It wasn't till I read some posts on here Spooky on spookyisms and Sassys on blackmail that I realised how much I was missing you guys. So I suppose this post is just to say hello again. Oh and by the way Rob Morrow is not bad I have to say, although a little young for me - still even us old girls can dream.

I have been trying of late to get back to some sort of normal way of being and living but I am finding that picking up my pieces after all that has happened is not that easy.
I'm still working (slowly) I'm still writing (badly at the moment) and I am still going through the motions that life demands of all of us but I am still finding things tough going at points. Like yesterday I couldn't get with the new form of advertising and blogged about it but then I see that it is over most of the blogs. I probably clicked something on Google adsense to change things but can't remember will have to check it out.

Re-reading Spooky's post about online buddies got me thinking. When we write here in blogland we are probably exposing ourselves in ways that we might not do in the real world - whatever that is. Whatever we write on here be it funny, sorrowful or angry it's easier than doing it out there. We don't have to look into the face of someone who is thinking yeah she's a nut or worse, her life is so shit I wouldn't be her for a fortune.

I often wonder what people's writing lives are like. Sometimes it is easy to see from the posts they write, but with others it is not so clear. My own writing life has ups and downs, sometimes I am happy and working efficiently and effectively and at other times I can't seem to write much at all. This applies to all areas of my writing life including blogging and freelancing.

We just got back from a two week vacation which was much needed even though in the beginning I felt guilty for going away to have fun. The kind of fun we actually had involved eating, sleeping and reading. It's got me thinking since that reading is probably almost as important as eating and sleeping if you are a writer.

Well, I'm back
Wouldn't you know. Just like a hack
Writer that is.
I've lost my fizz
But I'll get it back.
Writing is something we all need to do
Or why would we be here? Me and you
We need to write. Set the world alight

I am sorry that I have not replied to comments or been around my son is to be buried on Friday and I am all over the place. Hope to be around asap after that. Below is what I have written for him - the only thing other than those things I have to write that I have done since finding out. Will post it on the other blogs too. Thanks everyone, Sue.

I am posting this so that I only have to say it once for all my cyber friends.
My eldest son has had mental health problems for the last eight years - mainly because his heart was broken after a messy divorce and problems gaining regular access to his children.

I've written a number of these sort of verses now, trying them out on the blogs first but I intend to put them in a short book of verse for writers on Lulu eventually.

When you're writing each day
For minimum pay
Then sometimes the writing's no fun.
But you keep writing on
Til the deadline has gone
And there's time for enjoying the sun.
When the sun's shining down
