Like many people I have picked up a considerable amount of debt. I try my best to pay the rent and utilitiy bills on time. When it comes to credit cards I try to pay more than the minimum each month. This is where my battle begins.

I recently thought of my Aunt and her Nantucket basket. If your familar with Nantucket Baskets they are a beautiful work of basketry. My Aunt had a traditional purse with a engraving of flowers on the scrimshaw. A Scrimshaw is a piece of carved bone. Her's was made of carved whale bone. As a child I thought this was so cool. I had visons of a crusty old sailor carving a piece of bone with a pipe hanging out of his mouth. It was actually made by her neighbor down the street.

I love Thanksgiving its a wonderful holiday. It's also a day of mounring for many natives. Being half its sort of a bittersweet day for me. I enjoy hanging out with relatives and eating and preparing food.

The prankters will be out tonight!

They will teepee houses with toilet paper (pray it doesn't rain) and blow up mailboxes.
They bought eggs two weeks before Halloween.
They hid them under thier beds so they can ripen just right.

I had no idea there was such a thing, but today is Blog Action Day. The purpose is ask bloggers to write about an envionmental issue. You write about an issue in thier blog or you can donate your earnings to their cause. I hope many of you can participate despite finding out at this late moment.

Back during the 90's I took the starving artist route. I thought it was the cool bohemian thing to do. I was hanging out with a community of artist participating in shows and craft fairs and although it didn't generate much money I enjoyed it. Four years ago things changed and I found it difficult to get commissioned work. I had not saved any money I was living paycheck to paycheck with a low paying job. I was a full time student with a large amount of money owed to Sallie Mae. I had nothing to show for myself. It sucks not having money.

I use to love writing until I took a college course in poetry. He was an amazing, eclectic and published poet but he had a few personality issues. One of the most irritating things he use to do was leave these little comments on your paper. One time he wrote, "You call this poetry 1st graders write poetry better than you." When I confronted him he was unapproachable, "I'm the instructor if you don't like it leave." Since the class was required I had to sit through the whole semester. Every insult and snide remark crawled under my skin. Cutting them out would have been too painful.
