Been really busy with life. I'm on a get into business course for women which is taking lots of my time up. this is taking place twice a week in Cromer, North Norfolk. On Wednesday I went to the Millenium Library in Norwich for a talk on how to use the business library. Then it was off to the UEA for my scriptwriting course. Been wondering whether to set up a web business for local women't businesses but don't have technical know-how and don't know if have energy.

The last 3 days

Bodies | Brighton | Coronation Street | Cromer | DVD | Earls Court | London | plasticanated | speed stacks

Well a lot's happened since I last wrote. On Saturday, R had been on a sleepover then went on to Go Ape and forest-based high ropes experience. This was the party of the friend she'd stayed with. R had rung me at 7 am to say she was ill so I told her friend's mother to give her Calpol and that seemed to do the trick.

I went into town with A so she could buy M's birthday present. It's M's (husband) birthday on 13th May.

May 4th and 5th

bunked | canelloni | date | Grade VI | May | piano | scales | TEsco | the apprentice

I liked yesterday's date - 04.05.06 if you're in the UK.

It was a gorgeous day yesterday - about 25C where I live. Dog-walked then practiced by piano scales. I'm doing Grade VI soon and am very behind with the dreaded scales. Then went to my piano lesson. My teacher keeps asking if I really want to sit the exam... I said yes... I'll be pleased with a pass. I've been playing the same pieces now for 18 months so really want to get the exam behind me. Then I went and to Tesco for boring grocery shopping then went swimming. Lovely.

Today and Yesterday

alarm | chocolate cafe | Derby | forum | gym | hip hotel | norwich | Nottingham | swim

Yesterday, I should have gone to Norwich to meet a very good and old friend L. She was flying down from Edinburgh to celebrate her and her brother's birthday. They aren't twins. We were going to meet at the Chocolate Cafe at the Guildhall then move on for a drink at the new hip hotel in Norwich which I can't recall the name of - near to the Waffle House anyway. But unfortunately R - daughter 2 - was ill. She was devasted as it was the start of her school trip to Derbyshire.

May Day

Art exhibition | Grimston | May Day | trampolone | tug-o-war

Was good.
Overslept til 8:30 which is very unlike me. R felt a bit better. I took Os for a walk then came back and we packed R's holdall for her school trip.
A returned from her party/sleepover. She'd gone to bed at 3 am but had slept til 9 am. What strange sleep cycles.
Went to L's at 2 for lunch which we at about 6. K was there with A, and R with F. L's daughter L was doing her art homework. Her son M was the only boy but didn't seem bothered. The children all played outside with Os and L's dog F and R's dog H. They played tug-o-war with a large stick come branch and a rope. They bounced on the trampoline and swam in the pool which had been heated to bath temp.

Bank Hol Weekend

bank | C4 | Canale | Grand Designs | NYC | oysters | St Malo | yacht

Hi Y'all.
Well M is still away with the lads in St Malo and other ports around there. From what I can gather his 3 friends who he is with and who have never sailed before all want to buy yachts. M took them to Cancale - the home of the oysters - and they all had a fabulous meal. The oysters are flown out to NYC. I'm looking forward to them myself when we go as a family on the yacht at half term.

Friday

LAMDA

Friday was quiet but productive. It was a writing punctuated by housework kind of a day.
Then into town to get some food, then onto school to collect R who had done a cookery club. I had the impression the club finished at 5 but at 4:15 she had finished and I was 20 miles away.
The girls were both very tired after a busy week at school.
R gained a distinction in her LAMDA exam.
The men seem to be having fun out on the yacht. They even managed a sail.

Today and Yesterday

Creative Writing | Poetry | prose | quiche | scriptwriting | St Malo | UEA | yacht

Yesterday was jam-packed full. After walking Os, a bit of housework and writing, then off to Norwich to go for a one-to-one interview for a place on a women's get into business course. This is free and I've been accepted.

Straight after this it was onto the UEA for my creative writing diploma lecture. It was the start of term 3 and onto scriptwriting. We had a interesting lecturer who had written for TV and radio extensively. She was telling us that most movies are 120 minutes long which roughly corresponds to the number of pages in the book they are scripted from.

Today (25th) and Yesterday

Addenbrooke's | aspirate | Bone marrow | Cambridge | Chavs | King's Lynn | systemic mastocytosis | trephine

Today, I'm combining both days in my journal.

Yesterday was a lovely day at home. I wrote, then did housework, then wrote again, then housework. This continued most of the day punctuated by a visit to my beautician. Half way through one of my housework sessions I was clearing out all the ash from the fireplace when I landed painfully on my knee. Youch. Couldn't move for ages. I have osteopaenia (even though I'm only 40). I was concerned as I was on my own and I may have broken my knee. Made me think of other people who live alone and whose health isn't 100%. Anyway, the knee was fine after a while.

Norfolk Journal

the day to day musings of a West Norfolk writer

The weekend passed pretty uneventfully. Lovely sunny day on Saturday and when the wind stopped it felt warm.
M pottered about in the garden, A and R played with the dog. I walked into the village to find a birthday present for R's friend L but couldn't so bought fish and chips for lunch which we ate in the garden.

M took R to L's house as it was her birthday party. They went and played Laserquest - some game which I can't quite understand.
