'Africa - An Opportunity Not A Burden'
Bono has challenged the governments of the richest countries to deliver on their promises to fight poverty and disease in the poorest countries.
Speaking to political and business leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he said he remained optimistic that the rich world would deliver on its 2005 commitments to cancel the debts of poor countries and double aid to African countries by 2010.

AIDS
More than 38 million people around the world are infected by HIV/AIDS, 25 million in Africa alone. Left untreated, AIDS leads to an early death for people in their most productive years who are needed to raise crops and families, teach school and care for the sick. For more information about global AIDS click here.

An Introduction to Me and some great causes I believe in!
http://www.sarkissian.us/liz
I believe in an awesome God! I adore Him and try to love Him back as much as He loved me when He sent His Son to die on the Cross for me. I love my kids. I know I couldn't give them up for anybody much less the world. But it is a passion of mine to share God's love and His Son Jesus with you!
I am also a sufferer of a disease called AUTONOMIC NEUROPATHY and SMALL NERVE PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY. It is an incurable nerve damage disease that presents itself in many forms, affecting individuals in many different ways. For me, the nerves that line my organs, including the skin, are all both hyper and hypo sensitive. In other words, some nerves are overactive and cause organs to work too hard, too fast, and too sensitively. I also have the opposite. Both cause just as much discomfort. I have many symptoms that are caused by the symptoms! And each day is different. (At least it's never boring!) But there are many people struggling with this rare disease. It's so rare it's not even listed under the "rare diseases list" with the government! Go figure! But I intend on changing that. The key to surviving this is faith, determination, family support, a positive attitude, and great doctors. I see awesome doctors at the Medical College of Wisconsin/Froedtert Hospital: 1-800-272-3666. I see many different specialists there and they all coordinate my care. I highly recommend that for anyone going through what I am. It's much more beneficial to your care. You can learn more about Autonomic Neuropathy and Small Nerve Peripheral Neuropathy at MY PASSIONS (more to come). Here I will also share about HOW I developed this disease: a roll-over "accident" from my Ford-Mercury Villager Van. Ford-Mercury has taken no responsibility for their unsafe vehicles which are killing and injuring hundreds of people across America! They continue to do the run-around with the courts to avoid the law and we the people are paying the price with our lives, our health, and our abilities to live normal lives. Yet, they claim no responsibility. Learn more at MY PASSIONS!(more to come)

A little about ONE, DATA, EDUN, and RED...from an interview with Bono

Few Words From Bono
Posted by Virginia
12:00 PM Oct 13, 2006
As Product (RED) launches in America, opening a new front in the war against AIDS, a few words from Bono:
"Sometimes when I'm walking down the street a passer by will say "love your work on Africa Bono, great cause." Sometimes, they wish they hadn't. As I'm Irish, I love to talk to strangers. I love to talk about Africa. It can be hard to get away. . . Each time it makes me think we need to do much more to get the message across that this is not a 'cause,' this pandemic that we and so many others are working on. 5,500 Africans dying a day of AIDS, a preventable, treatable disease is not a cause. 5,500 Africans dying each day is an emergency.

Below is a copy of an entry posted in U2.com...it expresses my view bootlegging. There are two quotes in red, followed by my reply. My view: Clearly, purchasing bootlegged material is wrong. This is in reference to U2, but it also applies to all artists and all mediums. I believe that all monies belong to the artists and their producers, record company, ect. Paying others online or elsewhere for bootlegged material is simply a form of stealing. And undermines the soul (word intentfully used) purpose of a artist's reason for creating to material: to SHARE with us their God given talents. We owe them the right to pay them for their generous gift of sharing their gifts with us.

Seeing RED
Bono has launched Product RED, a global brand which will raise funds to fight AIDS in Africa. It's not philanthropy, he said, but 'doing good, will turn out to be doing good business.'
The launch of RED took place in Davos, Switzerland today, when Bono and Bobby Shriver joined with American Express, Gap, Converse and Giorgio Armani to unveil the T-shirts, shoes, sunglasses and credit card which are the first items in the new line.
