So I was listening to NPR today when they played Storycorps. These are personal stories people record giving an oral slice-of-life. I normally don't pay too much attention to them but this one caught my attention. If there ever was proof that it's not the situation, it's how you react to it that determines your mood, this was it! The actually story can be found here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89164759

A True Christian Action

Submitted by Knightshade on January 21, 2008 - 2:01pm. alternative music | Atlanta | music | pop music | radioHere in Atlanta a major change in radio stations is about to happen. 99X, an alternative rock station, is about to go away, becoming an internet only station, and Q100, the number 2 top-40 station and leading FM station, is taking over the frequency, 99.7. The reasons listed are declining listeners for 99X and a need for Q100 to better compete with Star 94, the current number 1 top-40 station. I wonder though, if anyone really realizes the implications of what just happened.
Food: The Ultimate Enabler. Can It Be Fixed?
Submitted by Knightshade on December 11, 2007 - 7:58am. blog | diet | Food | overweightAs I continue my journey to loose weight, I realized how important a role food has played. I used it for celebration, for comfort, for support, to relax, for almost everything but it's intended purpose. While I do have some ideas on how to fix it, here's a very good one here: http://bloggerparty.com/what_is_the_reason_that_people_overeat
Supreme Court Swing Vote: A Scary Thought
Submitted by Knightshade on December 10, 2007 - 6:20am. blog | Conservative | court | liberal | opinion | politicsI was listening to the news the other day and they were mentioning how Justice Kennedy is the "swing vote" for certain cases, just as Justice O'Connor was. Then I got to thinking and realized the concept of a swing vote is a scary perspective in our highest court. Here's why.
Food, the Ultimate Enabler
Submitted by Knightshade on November 14, 2007 - 10:27am. blog | debate | diet | exercise | psycology | self helpAs I've started to lose weight, I've been pondering why I overate in the first place. A quick answer is "I love to eat." But then to that answer it must be further asked why? My ponderings led me to conclude that food is the ultimate enabler.
A Commentary for Halloween
Submitted by Knightshade on October 31, 2007 - 8:13am. Conservative | debate | halloween | holidays | liberal | ReligionI'd like to put forward an argument. Basically the same people who decry that the "Christ" is being taken out of Christmas and we should have prayer in school seem to have no problem trying to take the fun out of Halloween.
Starting a Business
Submitted by Knightshade on September 25, 2007 - 7:29am. blog | Business | capitalism | entrepreneurNow for something a bit different. For years I have wanted to start a business but have been having a hard time. I'm not looking for something like those make-a-million-online type of things, something more in the brick-and-mortar category, like a sports bar.
Does the World Ever Learn from the Past?
Submitted by Knightshade on September 21, 2007 - 8:06am. debate | peace | politics | Religion | worldI look at the world and despite all the wonderful advancements I wonder: Have really learned anything from the past?
It seems since the dawn of civilization it seems we are in constant conflict and stuggle. For reasons that range from good to evil, we engage in conflicts because we can't, won't, or simply don't want to see the other side's point of view. People have been killing, robbing, stealing, conquering, and destroying since the beginning. History is awash with the rise and fall of civilizations and along with their magisty, their butality in order to get there.
The 8th Deadly Sin
Submitted by Knightshade on September 16, 2007 - 4:46am. debate | Religion | sinWell, this was a blog I wrote a while back and was going to place it on writingup but since they're no longer around, I guess I'll do it here. I'm guessing this will get some comments, I notice people tend to comment more here than on writingup.
