we realy need drink eight glasses of water a day ?
Submitted by cashman on July 5, 2008 - 4:14amLately it has been in vogue to dismiss the advice to drink eight glasses of water a day as a 'medical myth.'
Books and medical-journal articles have declared there's no scientific evidence for claims that '8 x 8' -- eight ounces, or 237 milliliters, of water eight times a day -- can bring a wide range of benefits, from speeding weight loss to ridding the body of toxins, fighting constipation, fatigue and dry skin and hastening recovery from colds and the flu. Headlines have jeered that 8 by 8 'doesn't hold water' and 'water advice doesn't wash.'

Teaching Children Money Habits for Life
Submitted by cashman on July 5, 2008 - 4:04amThe life-long benefits of teaching children good money habits make it well worth the effort. Children who are not taught these lessons pay the consequences for a life-time. Some parents don't teach children about money because they think they shouldn't talk about money with children, don't have the time, or think they don't have enough money. Parents should take the time to teach children about money regardless of their income and should start when children are young.

Intelligent Reading
Submitted by cashman on July 5, 2008 - 3:58amIn your reading you must have in view some definite aim ---- some aim other that the wish to derive pleasure. I conceive that to give pleasure is the highest end of any work of art, because the pleasure procured from any art is tonic, and transform the life into which it enters. But the maximum of pleasure can only be obtained by regular effort, and regular effort implies the organization of that effort. Open-air walking is a glorious exercise; it is the walking itself which is glorious. Nevertheless, when setting out for walking exercise, the sane man generally has a subsidiary aim in view. He says to himself either that he will reach a given point, or that he will progress at a given speed for a given distance, or that he will remain on his feet for a given time. He organizes his effort, partly in order that he may combine some other advantage with the advantage of walking, but principally in order to be sure that the effort shall be an adequate effort. The same with reading. Your paramount aim in poring over literature is to enjoy, but you will not fully achieve that aim unless you have also a subsidiary aim which necessitates the measurement of your energy. Your subsidiary aim may be aesthetic, moral, political, religious, scientific, erudite; you may devote yourself to a man, a topic, an epoch, a nation, a branch of literature, an idea ---- you have the widest latitude in the choice of an objective; but a definite objective you must have.

learn to forgive
Submitted by cashman on July 3, 2008 - 4:04amThis is not an easy article to write. I have been hurt by someone very close to me and I know that I need to forgive that person, but it is easier said than done. Intellectually, I know that until I can forgive, I will stew in my resentment and hurt - harming myself, not the person who hurt me. I could seek revenge, but countering a wrong with a wrong is… well, wrong.

Look for Friendship in Cyberspace
Submitted by cashman on July 3, 2008 - 3:59amIn so many ways, cyberspace mirrors the real world. People ask for information, play games, and share hobby tips. Others buy and sell products. Still others look for friendship, or even love.
Unlike the real world, however, your knowledge about a person is limited to words on a computer screen. Identity and appearancemean very little in cyberspace. Rather, a person’s thoughts-or at least the thoughts they type-are what really count. So even the shyest person can become a chat-room star.
