Allie's Insanity
So stressed
As some of you know, I am back in school... finally. Well, the semester has gone well with one exception. My English teacher’s wife was extremely ill, and the instructor disappeared. A new instructor just finally took over, and we’re supposed to play catch up and get everything done before the end of the semester. Shouldn’t be a problem, right? WRONG!
Needing a change
My husband and I have been looking into making a move. We are hoping that getting away from the area, moving somewhere where we are away from some of the influences that have been a strain on our marriage, will help us be better able to work things out for our family. After all, some of our biggest problems stem from neither of us being happy with the home in which we have been stuck living for the past eight years. Unfortunately, a move would require us not only to be able to sell this house, but it would also require us to be able to get the financing we need in order to purchase a new home.
It's been a while
It's been such a long time since I've written here, and I knew I needed to stop by and say hello to some old friends. My life has been so crazy since I lost stopped in. I apologize for staying away so long.
Braved it out
Today I did two things I thought I would never do. Both involve driving through certain areas.
We were invited to a birthday party about 45 miles away. The only thing was that the directions there called for me to drive on I285 in Atlanta, a road that makes me nervous just riding on. I've never driven on 285, and I've always sworn I would find a way to stay away from it. To me, the stress of riding on it just wasn't worth it. With that in mind, I used Google Maps to find a back roads route.
My Seasonal Business
Every year, starting in November, I have my own fun little business. I make personalized Santa letters, ordered by the parents or grandparents (or aunts, uncles, friends...), for children to know that Santa has been watching. Each letter includes some of the good and the bad that Santa has caught them doing, as well as mentioning some of the things they want for Christmas, and some of their friends. It started with my own kids, and turned into a hobby that gets me a little extra Christmas money.
Why toddlers are so fun
This morning was a prime example of why toddlers are so much fun. My Little Man is 21 months old now, and he is as headstrong as they come. When he woke up this morning, he decided that he wanted a yogurt. Without so much as a glance my direction, he walked into kitchen, opened the fridge, and grabbed a yogurt. He went to the drawer and pulled out a spoon (his spoons are the only things in reach in the drawers thanks to the locks), then helped himself into his highchair. I tried helping, which led to him screaming "no no" to me. My independent Little Man.
Seems so strange
I was recently watching the Disney Channel with my kids, and I heard something mentioning a song by Jordan Pruitt. When I first heard the name, I thought of the Jordan Pruitt I once knew, but didn't think too much of it. After all, the Jordan Pruitt I knew couldn't possibly be old enough to have songs on the Disney Channel. She was just about 7 or 8 years old last time I saw her.
Have You Ever Wondered?
Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you'd chosen a different path? Lately, I've been wondering myself, but I always come to one conclusion. If I'd chosen a different path, I probably wouldn't have my three beautiful children.
I've been so busy
I cannot believe how busy I have been lately! School has already started here, and my oldest two just completed their tenth school day of the year. Can you believe school starts so early here?!
We've had a series of ups and downs, but I am pretty confident that this school year will be much better than last year was. I hope so, at least!
No time!
I don't know if I have mentioned it before or not, but I love to work on scrapbooks. I was doing really well with them about a year ago, and I had just about caught up on all the pictures I needed to put into my many albums.
It doesn't smell as good
A couple of years ago, my husband bought me a nice incense burner at the Renaissance Festival that comes to town every year. At the same time, we bought several sticks of incense. We figured we would only use it once in a while, to freshen up the smell of the house (kids can sure make things stink sometimes, as could the dogs we had at the time!). We didn't think we would use it at least once a week.
Another Try
I am still having a hard time getting posts and comments to appear. Even when I made the post that did appear earlier, I tried to comment on it, and that still won't appear. I see a few comments and posts have popped up from other people, so I am hoping I will have some luck, too.
What Is Going On?
I've made four comments and a post since I logged on about fifteen minutes ago. However, nothing is appearing. I am being shown that I am receiving the points for all when I post them. When I made the comments, it went right back to the post I was commenting on. However, when I made the post, it told me that I earned the points, that the new tags were made, and then it said "Access Denied".
Whatever happened to good service?
Recently, we went to dinner with our closest friends. They have no children of their own, but they don't mind us bringing our kids along. In fact, they are our children's godparents, and they rather enjoy having time with the kids.
Happy Mother's Day
Today is Mother's Day, and for all the mom's out there, I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Mother's Day. Even though it is almost over, there is still time for some of you out there. And for those of you that have already tucked your little ones into bed for the night, or whose Mother's Day is already over, I hope you had a great one, as well.
