Blatant body part piracy...

A 43 year old factory worker in Bangkok, Thailand, has told local police she has discovered her right kidney was absent after having an x-ray to detect the cause of her frequent fainting spells and the constant pain in her waist.

The Bangkok Post reported the woman had claimed her kidney was "stolen" in 2006 - a 2005 x-ray clearly showed two kidneys in her body. But she has lodged a complaint against a private hospital she had been admitted to for an operation on an ovarian cyst, as having stolen her kidney during the operation process two years ago.

OH I believe this one Hutts!

I hope to hell she gets the bastards that did this to her...I wonder which "Super Star" bought her kidney? People with money do this all the time. It's disgusting to me that a hospital would do it though!

Actually stealing a kidney...

can be quick and rather easy with the availability of a doctor and nurse. It has been done in a hotel room.

I don't believe a word of this.

Every so-called report of missing kidneys has been proven to be a hoax and I think this one will be, too. Removing a kidney requires that the person be cut nearly in half - really. It's a decidedly major surgery and can be extremely dangerous for the individual. Removing an ovarian cyst is generally done through belly-button surgery (laparoscopy) with an incision of about an inch. There is absolutely no way that this woman could have had her kidney sneakily stolen during a surgery like that.

And yes, they do have a new procedure being tested right now that removes a kidney through the belly-button. But that technique is brand new and has not been tested thoroughly. It certainly would not have been in use in 2006.

Actually PW for the first time in a very long time

http://bloggerparty.com/blog/sassys

you and I will disagree here!! OMG!!! Anyhoo...a very, very, very good friend of mine had his kidney removed last year, I even wrote a blog about it because I was pissed off that they sent him home after only 3 days....fer real! Now last year they did not use the new technique through the bellybutton they just removed it nice and clean...he still has a relatively small scar and if I didn't know him I would not ever have known that he was minus one kidney! So it does happen, probably more often than we know.

Ok, then the new procedure is more in use than I knew.

But it wasn't in use in 2006 and this lady did not have her kidney removed during an ovarian cyst surgery. There is no way I'm going to believe that. There used to be dozens of these fake reports all the time - people waking up in a bathtub filled with ice with a note telling them to get to the hospital because their kidney had been removed - ya-da ya-da bullshit. And there were all kinds of people overseas (usually Asian countries) who tried to sue their doctors for supposedly stolen kidneys and they were all proven to be hoaxes.

Sorry, but I still don't believe a word of it. And your friend still had to spend 3 days in the hospital and still had a bigger scar than a belly button scar, which is what this lady would have had for that ovarian cyst.
