I wish to share my real life experience about health insurance . I along with my wife travelled to USA in 1979 by PAN-AM. We travelled all over USA by Grey hound . We ate pizza at pizza-hut. We enjoyed the burgers at MacDonald. It was a wonderful holiday. We made big purchases of the imported goods including Samsonite luggage etc. When we returned, we landed at Delhi Airport, we carried the heavy bags from cabin by stairs of the aeroplane. My wife complained severe stomach pain after reaching home. She was shifted to a hospital for emergency operation. She was in the hospital for ten days. WE HAD NO HEALTH OR TRAVEL INSURANCE. We had to pay from our savings.
We both bought health insurance later. Few years later she suffered major heart problem . This was the time we understood the benefits of insurance. ALL hospitalization & medication expenses were paid by insurance company. I do recommend every career person to buy adequate insurance to avoid bankruptcy. It has become the cause & effect of our mental peace.
