Automated Voices With Attitude

ModelMom's picture

Please don't think I am out of my mind, but I swear this just happened to me....I was calling one of my credit card compnaies to check on a balance and accidentally entered my credit card number wrong twice in a row after being prompted to enter the number by an automated voice.

The first time I entered the number wrong the voice said to "please try again". Basic automated machine voice jargon. Okay. But the second time I entered my number wrong the voice said "you are entering in an incorrect number. try again or press 0 for assitance"....but this time the voice sounded bitchy. I am 100% serious!

I literally stared at my reciever for a second before entering in my number again, this time purposefully to see what the voice would say and i got a snappy "that number is incorrect." I have never had this happend before with any other autmated voice system. I have been told that I have typed ina wrong number ,etc. but it was the actualy TONE of this voice that changed each time I put in the wrong digits. What?! This voice was a woman's....perhaps automated voices get PMS too? So bizarre. When my husband gets home I am going to make him call because I know he won't believe me if he doesn't hear it for himself!

Lol. It sounds just by the

Lol. It sounds just by the wording that it was getting more attitude each time.

Funny story- when I call my husband at work, and I get his voice mail, I swear that it takes on a different tone. That one I KNOW is all in my head, but still it's funny. When I call to hit him up for a few bucks, his voice mail sounds exasperated. When I let him know about a catastrophe, it sounds panicked. Etc. He thinks I'm nuts, and given that it's the same message, it might be true. lol

So did your husband listen?? What did he think?

I'd only come here seeking peace.
I'd only come here seeking me.
It seems I came to leave.

My husband listened!!!!

and it's official...I'm not crazy! He couldn't stop laughing though but had to apologize for telling me I was nuts when I told him about it. The voice really does get more and more curt the more times you type in the #'s wrong. This is SO weird!!! Okay, I can understand trying to make robotic/autmated voices sound more human, but come on now! What is next? The heavy breather automated voice the next time I call to schedule an appointment with a doctor? LOL!!
