Attack of the thought Gremlins!

Ever been attacked by thoughts...,it’s the opposite of having a writers' block, well that's what's been happening to me, and it’s not funny. Life before blogging was actually quite simple, people gave me a brief and I wrote according to it. There were strict guidelines, simpleman, do this, simpleman do that, be funny… no, no, no… one likes dark humour for gods' sake, use only 20 words okay that’s all the space we have…. the client hates long copy ads… , restrictions, shackles and guidelines be damned, I had no problem dishing out what people wanted, but now that I’ve started to free-write, its just amazing, I just cannot write.
Its not due to lack of topics in fact its just the opposite, there are too many of them and they are knocking inside my head, like little thought gremlins, eager to get out and wreck havoc on the blogging world(not really, but you get the point). So that’s the reason I’ve not been writing as much as I should.
I remember when i first started blogging, my first thought was, Oh God! what do I write about, little did i realize that the thought gremlins were laughing at me.... A few days back I just decided to write down the topics that I should write about in my blog, it was like opening the proverbial Pandora’s box and i nearly had a another panic attack. There were so many topics to choose from, they kept pouring out and each of them appealing to me to let them loose, pinching me, tormenting me, fighting with me, each more vociferous than the other. It was like running too many programs on the computer, eventually my system crashed too... So I stopped writing, went to the fridge, got a Bud, switched off the damn word processor and switched over to an RPG game. Goodbye thought gremlins!

I love that headline first of all. Secondly, I get that often. I call it "idea overload." Writing them down in a notebook helps. This helps me weed out the good ideas from the not so good ones. Once I narrow it down, I don't get so frustrated.

Thanks. Idea overload that's exactly what it is... but those crafty gremlins seems to attack just when the notebook is out of reach... grrr..
