I talked a few weeks back about how truly interactive TV would have made Arrested Development a hit, because pretty much everything is tied to something else -- something that either happened earlier or is going to happen later -- and if you're not paying attention, you miss all of that. So what's actually a really hilarious show can come off as nothing more than a series of random events occurring to rather unlikable characters.

I also mentioned that I tried really hard to get into the show when it was in its original run on FOX a few years back, but just never could. And that's the reason why: it was funny just because the characters were idiots, but it wasn't that funny because they were just a bunch of idiots doing pointless, idiotic things. There was no real context, and without that, Arrested Development falls completely short.

So this is everyone's lucky Christmas, indeed...

G4 is running the entire first season of the show back-to-back all day long, Christmas day.

If you have never watched this show before or if, much like me, you only saw an episode or two out of sequence and just didn't "get" why everyone seemed to like to so much, sit down and watch it from the beginning.

You will not be disappointed!

I've heard great things

I've heard great things about it, but I'm one of those people that will not watch it if I miss the first episode. And because I don't want to get hooked on it and then try to catch up, I will usually wait until it's off the air. Weird, I know, but it works for me.

Anyway, I'm glad there's a marathon. Thanks for letting us know.
