Are You a Secret Shopper Candidate?
I suppose that you can tell by my writing that I don't make a living at this. Please don't feel obligated to respond to that. Ha Ha.
As I have mentioned a few times already, I spend time on the internet looking for other ways to make money. A few weeks ago, I examined a few secret shopping sites and decided to give it a try. It is interesting, to say the least.
You are definately not going to get rich being a secret shopper....BUT you can pick up some extra spending money AND get some freebies. This week, for instance, I am shopping at McDonald's, Ponderosa and Arby's. That's three meals out, paid for by the company and about $9.00 cash apiece. It takes from a half hour to an hour to do each one. Not too bad.
I had a free hair cut last month at TopCuts and shopped Staples, picking up some freebies and cash. I have turned down probably two dozen jobs that I didn't feel good about or was simply not interested in doing.
The tricky part of this job is getting it done without the employees suspecting that YOU are the secret shopper. You must be very discreet. For instance, you can't go into the store flashing your stopwatch, or publicly jotting down notes on everything. It is a little like being a Double-Ought Spy....shades of Jethro.
If you are a person who is good at paying attention to details, like how long you had to stand in line to check out, what was the name of that person who helped you find the item you asked about, was the manager dressed appropriately, etc., then maybe secret shopping is the job for you.
