Are We Naive About The CIA?

American government | American politics | CIA | spies

Last week, we heard that the CIA has been burning tapes of the things they do, including interrogations and the like. Congress went into uproar mode, the media went crazy, and that man who's our president asked Congress to back off. Earlier today, that same man decided he didn't want to talk about the "scandal".

Okay, maybe I'm missing something here. This is the CIA after all; I wasn't surprised that they've burned or destroyed tapes. Truthfully, what I'm most surprised at is that the rest of us have had it confirmed that they had the tapes in the first place.

Isn't this supposed to be the most clandestine group in our government, the one that's not supposed to work on American soil, and therefore really doesn't have to subscribe to American rule, so to speak? Aren't these the same people who tried to help overthrow the Cuban, Nicaraguan, and Iraqi governments, the same ones who helped bin Laden overcome the Soviets?

Secret jails; come on, who didn't suspect the CIA had secret jails? Secret torture; you're putting me on, right? This is the group our country has relied on to promote our interests; notice I'm not using the word "support". Supporting our interests is the job of ambassadors; the CIA is supposed to do the dirty work. That's why there was so much uproar years back when the White House (yeah, I know, they deny it) outed the one CIA agent; they pretty much put a bullseye on her head, they know it.

Oh yeah; has everyone forgotten just who's father used to head the CIA for awhile? Course, that's always a misnomer, because the members of the CIA consider that a civilian post, so right now I'm not really sure who's actually in charge. Whoever it is, though, probably needs to be fired; seems there are no real secrets with the CIA anymore.

Now, let's hope they don't show up at my door; that is, unless they bring cookies!

It Depends on how it is Used

We belong to the United Nations and other organizations and have signed treaties which ban torture. CIA or no CIA if we signed the treaty and agreed not to endorse torture, then there should be no torture....period.

Otherwise, don't sign treaties and pretend you are something you are not.

I find it amazing that some of our leaders claim to be Christians and woo the far right Christian coalition and then their actions are as far removed from Christian actions and the Christians are mute on the subject.

As a Christian is honesty and integrity part of the Christian doctrine or not?

Is Satan not the father and progenitor of the LIE or is he not? If he is...then why do Christians lie? Or why do they endorse someone who lies?

Just curious.

The CIA?? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!

Sassys

The CIA has been long known to most of us as the worlds "Mafioso's". None of this came as a surprise to me...and it sure as hell was no surprise to our President...the "what I don't see, can't hurt me" attitude of this administration is 100% disgusting. The agenda is pure intimidation and lies, lies, lies. Wait till they ressurect (SP?) a billion dollar library, to honor a man who openly claims that he doesn't read too much.
Some day Americans will pull their heads out of their asses and wake up to the fact that they have been had to the tune of BILLIONS. DISGUSTING!

No they won't, Sassys,...

of all things, I tend to see these types of things as they did near the beginning of the Matrix. Most people are taking the blue pill, so they stay oblivious to things like this. There's only the few who really want to think about these things, so they take the red pill. Course, we're the ones who also need to keep our heads down; the CIA only takes prisoners when they want to torture them.

Reviews of Everything, reviews and opinions of, well, almost anything!
