Are skincare and cosmetic products poisoning you?

Are you the type of person that reads labels? If not maybe you should consider starting! Here in the US the FDA does regulate what is in our skincare and cosmetic products. That means a lot of the products in our homes and on our and our children's skin could contain toxins. Many of the toxins are even believed to cause some kinds of cancer as well as birth defects. One way to protect yourself is to learn to read the labels, really look into what is in your products. Also, the law in Europe is that cosmetic companies cannot put these toxins in their products. Thats why I personally use Arbonne. It is formulated in Switzerland and must adhere to the European laws, however it is manufactured and shipped from 2 locations in the U.S.

These toxins are know as phthalates and they are prevalent in all sorts of household items. There have been a number of common cosmetics that have been tested and have come up positive. These tests were done by the FDA, however the FDA does not regulate what can and cannot be in these products, therefore the companies do not need to put it on their labels. There have been some studies on this and one from the CDC that showed an unusually high amount of phthalates in women of childbearing age.

Phthalates are known to cause things such as live, kidney, heart, lung and blood pressure problems. Phthalates can also cause birth defects and they are found in breast milk as well.

Other products that are not good for you, can be found on the ingredients list however! These things don't pose a huge health threat but one of them is in almost every drugstore lotion, and is the 2nd most common cause of premature aging! So if you don't want wrinkles you'll want to find out what this is! Check my website I'll be writing a post on this soon! Until then, remember really research what you put on your skin!
