I decided I wanted an ice cream cone, my first of the season, from my favorite soft ice cream place, which is across town. I hopped in the car and drove over there, got out, and walked towards the kiosk. There was one family sitting on a picnic bench, enjoying their ice cream. The smallest of the bunch started waving her hands furiously at me, so I waved back.

The family couldn't see her, but saw me waving, so the looked at her and I heard the father ask "What are you doing?"

She answered "I'm saying hi; I like saying hi."

And that was that. :-)
