The first toxicology screen of Anna Nicole's son, Daniel Smith, came back negative for illegal substances. It did confirm antidepressants and the sleeping drug, Ambien, but not in lethal doses. The official death certificate lists the cause of death as "pending chemical analysis" and the death is still being referred to as "not natural."

Many Bahamians are complaining that Anna Nicole is receiving unfair treatment due to her celebrity, but officials noted that the inquest will be canceled if it is determined that Daniel Smith died of natural causes.

Interestingly, director, David Giancola, who recently worked with both mother and son, stated that the young man had been hospitalized several times in August for an elevated heart rate. He also stated that Daniel Smith had lost as much as 30 pounds during the movie shoot.

Am I the only one thinking these "magic pills" might have had something to do with this whole "unnatural death" thing? After all, he started taking them 4-6 weeks before his untimely death.

Other toxicology reports are expected.

So weird

Brenna Fender Says:

But the antidepressants were in low doses, right? Losing 30 pounds doesn't seem right either. WEIRD.

Overmedicated?

Yes, but they are always prescribing people these newly-released, brand name drugs for everything nowadays and I don't think the doctors always realize how they can affect some people. I personally know of one patient who was prescribed medication that specifically interacted with his current medication and his doctor didn't realize it -- luckily he was wary enough to read the information that came with the medicine before he took it and pointed it out to the doctor.
