Am I Stupid?

I just spent the last hour watching TV's latest big hit, Deal or No Deal. This is the show's second go around on NBC. I thought it would just be on the week after the Olympics (last week), but here it is on again this week.

I watched Deal or No Deal the first time it was on around Christmas. I find myself watching it now that it's back on. The question is why.

I'm pretty sure that monkeys could be trained to play the game and we would see the same results. For those of you who haven't seen the show here a quick run down: there are 25 gorgeous women holding suitcases, the contestant then picks a box that they want, the contestant then picks suitcases, as they pick the worth of the suitcase is revealed. The point is to pick the lower dollar amounts. While the contestant is doing this, there is a silhouetted banker who offers to buy the contestant's suitcase back for a price that depends on what dollar values are still left. This goes on until either the contestant takes the deal or until there are no more suitcases to pick.

I hope that made sense, if not check out the show. The point I was getting at was that there is no skill involved in the game. Absolutely no skill. All the contestant has to do is pick numbered suitcases. Then, if they're lucky they end up taking home a large sum of money. That's all the show is.

Every time I watch, I find myself screaming out numbers. Then the best part is I get upset with contestant when they pick a box with a large amount of money. I know I just said the game is completely based on luck and nothing more, but I just don't understand why the contestant didn't know the million dollar suitcase was number 25.

Does anyone else find themselves going against all their knowledge and berating these poor contestants?

Yes! I find myself doing the same! It is such a stupid show, with absolutey no real strategy. I sit there and yell at my husband the entire show, "It's box 3, I know it!" There is even a way you can play along on line. We tried it and actually got the box right and won nothing. However the show is exciting for pretty much no reason, I suggest watching it.
