I've taken to telling everyone that I'm a professional dilettante. I mean, I'm just really crappy at picking just one career. I am a real estate investor, landlord, writer, artist's assistant, and now- artist. I've called myself an artist before, but it never really felt real until now. I mean, I can't draw, even my stick figures suck, and I can't stay in the lines, so even being a colorist is out. So, it's one of those things that I just kind of ruled out as a career a long time ago.
I met my artist boss last weekend, and we talked about a place where I might be able to put my egg art. And then she told me that I could put my stuff in her studio. When I asked for some clarification on terms, she said I could keep them there as long as I want.
I've spent the day working on eggs. I've got a story egg that I'm ambivalent about, and a spiral egg that I just finished that kind of surprised me. I mean, I didn't really think I could do this one, and it's an extremely ambitious egg, and it literally came out perfect. PERFECT. It's so fragile that it can't even support its own weight anymore, and I'm going to have to make it a hanging egg, rather than one that's on a stand. But that's okay. I think it would look the best for that style anyway.

For those who didn't already know, and are wondering what I'm blathering about, the egg art is a hobby I've been working on for a few years now. My friends like to make fun of me for it. ;) I use mostly goose eggs and decorate them. My favorite thing to do is carve them. And yes, they are REAL goose eggs, with lacy looking filigree work, or shapes cut out of them. I think I like doing the carving best because it freaks people out. I mean, they look at these eggs, and they convince themselves that it's not a real egg.
