Last week I did a stupid thing and posted an entry about global warming and endangered animals. It was not well thought out, but nevertheless, I did it. The reason the argument was so crappy was because I don't believe a word I wrote. I do believe that global warming is a problem and that we(meaning all of us humans, not just Americans) need to get serious about solving the problem and get over the anger and name calling. The truth of the matter is that even though there are lots of you fellow bloggers and others who know the facts about global warming and all that that encompasses, there are just as many people who have the same warped view that I was trying (and very poorly, I might add) to portray. My own husband, father, and sister make fun of me for believing that we need to start working toward a solution to the climate and environmental trouble we are having. They buy into the Rush Limbaugh/Glen Beck line of thinking that none of this is anything to worry about. I get made fun of daily because I actully do the things that I mentioned in one of the replies. Even those of you who replied to my posts made fun of me, but I still stand by what I am doing. Doing something is better than doing nothing. I guess the thing I am trying to say is that we need to get beyond the arguing. Something must be done besides arguing! In my home, I cannot argue as passionately or loudly or vehmently as you all were able to do with me in the blog. I have to live with my husband, so I have to keep my opinions to myself, and quietly work toward what I think I need to do. I have come to the conclusion that the way things stand in terms of global warming, we are all screwed. Unless, and until the wealthier, and most powerful nations of the world get together and seriously work toward an economically feasible solution, nothing will ever get done. This year's presidential election is crucial, and I am sure John McCain will do nothing, so we need to be careful about whom we choose for the job.
Again, I apologize for getting people so upset, and angry. Arguing is a good thing, tearing apart the very people you are trying to change does nothing to advance the cause. I live it everyday in my home and have learned that that sort of thing just doesn't work.
