Air Supply "Even The Nights Are Better"

With the their 1980 album Lost In Love and 1981's follow-up The One That You Love, Air Supply and their soft rock sound had become international stars. Both albums had gone multi-platinum and the Aussie act had scored a streak of six consecutive Top Ten singles, all of them reaching the Top Five. They were one of the greatest success stories of the early '80s even if they were critically reviled.

In the summer of 1982, Air Supply returned with their album Now And Forever and the first single, "Even The Nights Are Better" was quickly embraced by radio. As airy and light as their previous hits, the song was an immediate smash with soft rock and adult contempory stations, but it found more resistence at mainstream pop where synthesizer bands and New Wave rock were in vogue.

It hardly proved to be a hindrence. "Even The Nights Are Better" became a #1 hit on the adult contemporary charts and became Air Supply's seventh US Top 40 hit in late June. Six weeks later, it reached the Top Ten and eventually peaked for two weeks at #5 in September. However, it quickly slid down the charts and signaled the end of Air Supply's period as major hitmakers on pop radio.
