Without advertising, a company can't reach out to a wider customer-base. And without the opportunity to extend one's customer-base, that company will soon fade away and die. That's why it's so important to get your company's name out there to as many people as possible. There are, of course, the traditional advertising methods like newspaper ads and TV commercials. But if you're just starting out, the cost of doing that could be out of the question.
Instead of breaking your budget on one of the expensive mediums, getting your company's name printed on a product that everbody uses is an ideal way to reach more potential customers. Passing out coffee mugs, refrigerator magnets or personalized pens are an inexpensive way to get more exposure throughout your community. You'd be surprised how far a personalized pen can go. It could change hands dozens of times in the course of a few weeks. I've even made a couple inquiry calls to companies because I had their pen in my desk and I was in need of one of the services they offer.
Small businesses don't need to spend thousands of dollars to get their name out into their community. Some companies will print about a thousand personalized pens or magnets for less than $200. That's a deal you can't get with other forms of advertising.
