Admin Assistant Position

Submitted by Babette0128 on April 26, 2007 - 1:17pm.

So a while back I'd spent 6 months chosing a job, and they let me go saying I didn't know enough. Ain't that sumpin? My day job is a legal assistant. So that was a tough hit but I have to say that I've been happy to have a break now that I've caught up from the hit of losing 2 weeks pay when they let me go.

Anyway, recruiters are now calling me and this woman today has a position which will be available, I have to ask her "when" because the company is moving from Suffern NY to my area, and it would be as an Administrative Assistant, she read me the job description over the phone and the thing that I liked about her was when she said "you interview your employer as well" ... well my damn! That's what a'm talking about! :)

So, anyway I have an appointment to go and see her on Tuesday next week at 10:00 a.m. Pretty cool huh?

She said she could place me in Manhatten in a heartbeat but I dont' want to work there :) too far from my daughter. and a'm not paying taxes in two states which is what I'd have to do, pay there and here. Anyway, the thing is I'm just not going to be too far from my daughter in case of an emergency, there's just no discussing that.

SO this woman seems to have a good bunch of clientele for me to think about. I asked her if she had PI work ... and I explained to her about the old job she thought it was a ludicrious as I did, and so we'll see how it goes!

I don't have kids, so it's coming from a different point of view, but you'd get paid way more money working in Manhattan, and what, you'd be maybe 45 minutes away from home after taking either the train or the ferry?

I do understand where you're coming from in one area, but in another, my parents were about as far away from me as a child at times, and things went just fine. If she was 4 or 5 I could fully see it, but she's older now.

Not trying to talk you out of it, but, you know, it's just something else to think about. Personally, I'd love to work in Manhattan.

:) Now haven't you and I had this chat? NOPE! Not doing it! I"m not into commuting in all that traffic, being too far away in case of an emergency, getting home by 7 pm at night or stressing myself out like that. It's just not going to happen.

HEY! You can work there :) Go on boi!!! LOL That's you, I don't want to... nah, not for me. I don't like the city either.
