Addicted To Video Games

Europe is opening its first game addicts' detox clinic. The dirctor
of the in-patient clinic in Amsterm, Keith Bakker, says video games
can be just as addictive as gambling or drugs and just as hard to
kick.
Bakker has already treated 20 addicts since January. Some recovering
addicts, ranging in age from teen to adult, show such withdrawal symptoms
as shaking and sweating when they look at a computer.
The next group of addicts can start treatment in July. The course
will be up to eight weeks long and include talk therapy and helping
patients find interest in alternative activities.
If you think you or someone you love may have this addiction,
look for the following symptoms: the addict neglects usual activities,
spends several hours at a time with the computer and has no social
life.
