A Trampled On Constitution

Once again the excesses of government and our insatiable need to control our neighbor’s lives and impose our morals and religious beliefs on our neighbors has reared its ugly head. Some members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or FLDS, may have violated the laws of the state of Texas. That point is conceded and has been from the start.
At issue here are the methods employed by the authorities in enforcing our State Laws. Questions arise at to the selective enforcement of certain laws. Also, in question are the rights granted to all citizens by the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights.
Firstly, let us examine the search and confiscation of certain records and equipment at the ranch. Our government (police) is obligated to investigate when any citizen complains of wrong doing or cries out for help. In this case the complaining victim has yet to be found. Not finding the complaining victim the police decided to search the entire ranch. This is the same as our police going to a domestic dispute and not finding the complaining victim at the address continue to search every house in a two or three block radius. Or the police receiving a complaint at a large apartment complex of someone selling drugs and they decide to search every apartment for drugs and/or drug paraphernalia. Of course, this could never happen in the United States. WAKEUP AMERICA, IT JUST DID.
Although the children are well cared for, the State decided that the children were at imminent risk of sexual abuse and placed ALL the children in State custody. The State concluded that girls as young as 13 were having sex with older men.
Thank God that only happens at the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Never in the history of the United States has a girl younger than 18 had sex with an older man, except within the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
How I wish that were true! In my neck of the woods, girls 8 years old and up are sexually active. And by age 13 or so have a baby. Where is Child Protective Services then? Why are the mother’s of these sexually active girls allowed to continue to have custody of their other children. Are the brothers and sisters of these sexually active girls not equally at risk of sexual abuse. When certain women continue to have babies and every baby has a different father, are they required to submit to DNA testing to establish the father of the children? No. The State could care less who fathered those children.
The women and children of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have been put through something that closely resembles the trials and tribulations of the Jews when they were sent to concentration camps in Germany. Their homes have been invaded and their babies have been torn from their arms, maybe never to be reunited again.
The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has in its power to change what is happening. If the only thing our society objects to is the age of the girls contracting spiritual matrimony, then let the girls contract spiritual matrimony at the age of 18. Case closed. If the objection is that men have more than one female. Then let’s apply the law equally. Any man or woman found to have sexual relations with more than one person in a one or two year (take your pick) period shall be guilty of bigamy. No more selective prosecution.
We used to be a nation of laws. I don’t know if I can say that anymore. The laws used to apply to every one. I don’t know if I can say that anymore. Everyone was equal under the law. I don’t know if I can say that anymore. The Constitution and the Bill Of Rights used to mean something. I don’t know if I can say that anymore.
What do I know? I only know what history has proven to me. History has shown that when one class of people lose a right, that same loss will eventually affect all classes. History has shown that a right once lost will never be regained without a struggle. History has shown us that people can only be controlled up to a point before they rebel. We have the power to keep our government on tract. Let’s use it before it’s too late.

Yes they did...and you know what?
http://bloggerparty.com/blog/sassys
If even one kid is, or was, molested and or abused then ALL the kids need to be sheltered and checked out period! It is an inconvenience these "parents" must go through...put yourself in the shoes of a 15 year old girl who looks to her future of being "married" to an abusive sick 50 year old pervert. The "rights" you are speaking of should be there for the children, and it's their RIGHT to live a healthy SAFE life. I don't give a crap about the rights of the adults in this particular situation as they apparently don't see the abuse that goes on directly under their noses...nope!
So girls in your neck of the woods are "sexually active"
http://bloggerparty.com/blog/sassys
at the ripe old age of 8 eh? Then you think it's ok? Or it's the child's fault for wearing those provocative clothes? What exactly are you trying to say here? That it's NOT the governments job to intervene? When was the last time YOU intervened on behalf of an abused kid? Some intervention is needed, because these kids don't get the help they need from people like you. And yes the "system" sucks, but believe it or not, it sucks more to have multiple daddies prodding you on a nightly.
HOW DARE YOU COMPARE THIS TO THE JEWS!!!
http://bloggerparty.com/blog/sassys
That paragraph is truly disgusting! The systematic murder of millions of Jews by the Nazis is not even remotely close to this subject. Our constitution does not now and NEVER has protected the pedophiles of this country. What kind of country would you like to live in? One that allows all "adults" their freedoms, right? Well it is NOT a right to sexually molest a child because you are their parent. That is against the law and it's against the law because it is not only morally wrong but it is criminally wrong too. To compare this to concentration camps is ridiculous and offensive.
You Miss The Point
You missed the point. The point is why are the laws not applied equally to all. If the law can be make to apply to this situation then why does it not apply to some crack mother living in the projects. Why does she get to keep her kids and pimp them out for crack? Why does she get to keep her kids and offer them to her boyfriend for his (ab)use? My point Sassy is that we are all protected by the laws or none of us are. Which is it?
You're not making sense, PV.
No one allows a crack-head to pimp her kids out - for any reason. But if there is no evidence for the authorities to act on then the laws also protect that crack-head. You see, the laws absolutely do apply to everyone.
Or would you prefer that we go ahead and just remove all the kids from all the homes that look a liitle suspicious - maybe the mom stays out too late at night - isn't married to her live-in boyfriend - is on welfare..... Go ahead, tell me just what criteria you would use to decide that parents are unfit. Shall we just fuck real evidence and convict someone because they are suspected of being a bad parent?

You said FUCK!!! lol

HUH??? WTF?
http://bloggerparty.com/blog/sassys
The laws do apply to all PV! The fact that the law has not caught up with certain people, doesn't mean that those people aren't still breaking it. Crack head mothers get their kids taken away every single day in this country...the only people who don't get prosecuted for breaking the laws here, are our own government. Now the laws they break are not what you are blabbing about however...if you must compare anyone to the Jews and concentration camps, then look to see how the world is reacting to Darfur. The only people who are in danger here are the children that these "moral, peaceful,so called god fearing" parents have put them in. It does not compare to Nazi Germany and it is not against our constitution to remove kids who are in harms way from their own parents. So you are wrong.
Perhaps because they have no
Perhaps because they have no proof that the mother is pimping out her kids to get her fix because no-one has complained. I am sure that if they had evidence of this her kids would be taken from her before you could blink.

Women Suffer From ‘It’s All About Me Syndrome’
They absolutely would, Sire.
Our authorities can't do anything until they have evidence, which is why it took 4 years for them to interfere with what was going on in Texas. That's a very sad thing for all the little girls who had to endure those 4 years. But once the authorities do have evidence that a child is being harmed, they do act and, in the best of circumstances, they act swiftly and thoroughly to protect the children.

Good on your authorities...
for taking these kids into care from these hypocritical so-called Christians. I hope those who are found guilty get their balls cut OUT!!!
My Qassia LinkTHE GREEN BLOG - World of Conservation and Ecology
Get a clue, Pancho.
The laws of the United States as well as the State of Texas were being enforced. These laws weren't enforced sooner because the authorities were unable to obtain evidence of any abuse or wrong-doing. When they did get evidence they acted according to the law to PROTECT CHILDREN.
There were over 400 children in that enclave. I'd say that warrants a pretty thorough search considering the nature of the complaint and considering that numerous under-age girls were found to be pregnant - a much higher ratio than could be expected as the normal amount of teen-aged pregnancies. Also to be taken into consideration are the documented practices of the FLDS, which are and always have been, against the law in the U.S. So don't hand me that crap that the constitutional rights of those perverts were violated.
You say the laws "used to apply to everyone." I take it that you aren't expecting that the laws should apply to all those young girls who were forced into sexual relationships with older men and all those young girls whose future held the same. In case you're having trouble equating that with breaking the law - outside of the FLDS that's called RAPE!
Excesses of Authority
Hey it's really great to see all the participation here on this subject. Although some seem to be a little off target. My own personal opinion is that it's amazing to see how many of us are willing to sacrifice our constitutional rights for a perceived benefit to a child. In other words; it’s amazing to see how many of us think the end justify the means. I could go on and on but it seem to me that someone else said it a lot better. So here it is:
"In Germany, the Nazis first came for the communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't Jewish.
Then they came for the trade unionist,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant,
Then they came for the homosexuals,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a homosexual,
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one left to speak for me."
-- Rev. Martin Niemoeller, German Lutheran Pastor
Percieved benefits? Hellooooooo!
http://bloggerparty.com/blog/sassys
The fact that "no one spoke up" says a lot, but you are speaking up for the wrong reason and the wrong cause.
You are also a little off on your interpretation of
"constitutional rights." Yes, we have the right to practice our religion of choice - but not at the expense or to the detriment of others. No human sacrifices - including sacrificing virgins to old, nasty, perverted men - no forcing members of your congregation into slavery, virtual or otherwise, etc., etc., etc.
Yeah even the Pope
http://bloggerparty.com/blog/sassys
apologized for his uuuum less than "faithful" faithful:(
Speaking of the Pope
Finally, the Pope did apologize and yes he did offer prayers to those who were wronged. I just wish his administration felt the same way. See http://bloggerparty.com/catholic_priests_and_child_sex .
It seems to me that the Church could have done more than offer a prayer to those that were so egregiously offended. We all know the Catholic Church has money. See http://bloggerparty.com/how_much_money_does_it_take_to_get_into_heaven It has always been my opinion the Catholic Church should have been punished more than it was.
I feel the same way about the Mormon church at the Eldorado ranch. But I strongly disagree with the methods employed by the authorities. The same could have been accomplished without “bending” the rights bestowed upon us by the constitution. Again, the ends do not justify the means.
I fully understand the predicament of the authorities. But could it be that our local authorities took a hint from the current presidential administration? Could it be that the girl that complained is hiding in the same place as the “weapons of mass destruction”.
I disagree, if their actions
I disagree, if their actions saved just one child from being subjugated to an old mans lust then I think they did the right thing. The thing that matters now is how do they go on from here.

I disagree that the ends justify the means.
But I'm still wondering where you get the idea that constitutional rights have been violated, PV. The authorities carried out a lawful search.
Are you complaining just because it was a so-called church? The government has every right to inspect paperwork, records, etc., when certainly violations are suspected and when there is sufficient evidence of those violations for a judge to issue a search warrant. Churches are not exempt from the laws (except for the tax laws and that's a whole other sore subject).
Are you complaining because it's legal to search through paperwork and records when sufficient cause for a search warrant is found? If so, I suggest you go find a nice little deserted island to buy and set up your own anarchistic nation. I, personally, don't really want to live in a nation that ties the hands of law enforcement officials to the extent that they can't search out and find evidence of wrong-doing.
