A Short Comment on Church, State (by BigBadJohnny)

Oddly, I fancy myself a "Diest", which is to say I believe in God, not
necessarity an "intelligent" or self aware diety, but nevertheless a
God.. I don't necessarily believe in all the other trappings. For the
trappings, I see no evidence.

When I was younger, I questioned the references to God in the Court
System, on the Money, and in the schools.

Since then, There has been less religion in schools, and the courts have
become more aware of "non-Christian" beliefs.

In America we find Christians, Jews, Muslim, Hindus, as Barbara Walters
recently pointed out, Buddists, and more.

Recall, this country was founded, " under God" for better or for worse.

There has been a recent leaning in the various branches of Government,
away from rational thought, and toward fundamental Christian Beliefs, or
"family values". This sounds acceptable (perhaps) but it moves away
from adhering to the law and to the constitution, and toward being lead
by our emotions. In the extreme, it means moving away from justice, and
precidence, in, for example, the court system, to "let the Pastor
decide."

I am hopeful in the future we will see a more secular society.
