A Problem with these blog services

lisalogan's picture

I've been blogging here for close to two weeks, and was blogging over on WritingUp for a week or so before that. Note the past tense on the latter--more on that in a minute. I've discovered a problem/glitch with support on the two sites.

I ran into a couple of usage issues here on Blogger Party and attempted to contact Admin through the Contact button, the private message system, and by posting a "Hey ADMIN" post on the blog. Zero response. After several days waiting and hoping I started over again and a wonderful woman, Brenna, was kind enough to give me a speedy response (and a simple solution to my problem--THANKS Brenna!) But basically I've spent the bulk of my time here trying to elicit an Admin response for a very simple issue.

Meanwhile, sometime during the infamous downtime on WritingUp my account stopped working. My blog still appears on the site, but I cannot log in and post anything. Better yet, there appears to be ZERO way to contact WritingUp Admin/support unless one is logged into an account. I tried making a new account, but it won't let me as my Email address is already "registered." At least Blogger Party has the sense and courtesy to offer a "contact us" form that is accessible whether or not someone is logged in. So in effect I no longer have a blog on WritingUp.

I wonder how many other people are having problems with these services? Sure, I understand these sites are new and growing pains are bound to occur, but not having any way to contact support? Someone didn' t have their thinking cap on too snug that day. As for Blogger Party, a simple setting that had magically "unhooked" itself was responsible for my troubles, and it would have been nice to hear the easy solution without having to make four attempts over nearly a week.

Comments are welcome.

John Jonas has an email address on his site. I think it's on one of his main posts about promoting your blog or something. If I can find it, I'll come back here and give it to you.

Cheers,

JP

Thanks, Jason.

I've spent time on WritingUp daily looking for ANY way to contact John outside replying to his posted topics, which can only be done when logged in. I'd say maybe my account got cancelled, but I was never notified AND the blog still exists up there. So it seems more likely to be a tech diff.

Is the "Contact us" form not working? I get emails daily from members and I generally respond, so I'm not sure what the problem was.

Also, my email address is which you can use directly.

No trouble making contact

I have had no trouble making contact with admin on both sites. I have been overwhelmed with the excellent responses from both sites. I have had a few questions in my 6 weeks or so doing this - and never a problem. Just lucky I guess. I'd rate both sites 10/10!

Check out my blog

When you say you've had no trouble with Admin on "both" sides, does this mean on WritingUp as well? If so, are you logging in first to find some contact method, or is this something you can do signed out?

Admin, thanks for posting.

I tried the contact form twice, a week apart. Got no reply the first time, which drove me to trying messaging here on Blogger Party as well as a "Hey Admin" post , neither of which were apparently seen. My second attempt with the contact form went amazingly well, and as mentioned in my blog post I was very impressed with Brenna's speedy and informative response. It's just frustrating to have had these problems over the course of a week on *both* services simulataneously!

As I said before WritingUp is a nightmare. I gave up on them completely. Branda has always responded to me fast, with real solutions.

There is an alternative site you may want to check out called wiseorb.com. I wrote a blog on it three days ago if you want more info.
