On Wednesday, September 20, (just last week) I posted the article which follows. It deals with issues related to terrorism, and our current level of "safety".
Over the more recent weekend, the New York Times published content that agrees with my contention. Allow me to gloat (a little).
Following the two articles, I have added critical and timely comments which I know you will enjoy!
My Article:
"The World is better off today, because of George Bush and his "war on terrorism". True, or False?
The issue of the entire world having lost some respect for America is obvious.
The issue of American policy in Iraq generating hatred and encouraging every young Iraqi man to embrace a time of "terrorism" is obvious.
Since the beginning of the war, in March, 2003, the number of Iraqi citizens that have died ranges by estimate from 43,269, to 48,046. Might not history accuse George Bush of genocide?
During that same period, at least 2,687 members of the U.S. military have died. Consider the number seriously injured, physically, or psychologically. The damage done to our servicemen is incomprehensible. ...
...The world grows more dangerous, less rational, less compassionate with each passing day. Some have predicted the "Final Days", the Apocalypse. We may need a miracle to end this turmoil. We may need a great world leader to emerge, with power, and truth on his side. I hope it happens soon."
From the New York Times
"New York Times
WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 — A stark assessment of terrorism trends by American intelligence agencies has found that the American invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks.
The classified National Intelligence Estimate attributes a more direct role to the Iraq war in fueling radicalism than that presented either in recent White House documents or in a report released Wednesday by the House Intelligence Committee, according to several officials in Washington involved in preparing the assessment or who have read the final document.
’’ it (the document) asserts that Islamic radicalism, rather than being in retreat, has metastasized and spread across the globe.
An opening section of the report, “Indicators of the Spread of the Global Jihadist Movement, cites the Iraq war as a reason for the diffusion of jihad ideology.
The report “says that the Iraq war has made the overall terrorism problem worse, said one American intelligence official."
And finally, new, from me (your BigBadJohnny)
I'm sure I aggravate people with my criticism of the Bush administration.
As to Bush: if an incompetent, highly emotional man finds himself in a position of responsibility, he can only do his best. Is Bush doing his best? Who is to judge? The responsibility may fall on the shoulders of the congress, the media, and/or the voters who put this man in office.
I hope we learn from our mistakes.
The fighting in Afghanistan is right and just. It makes sense, it's logical.
The horrendous war in Iraq is wrong and pointless.
We are trying to force our culture on an ancient biblical nation with strongly felt beliefs, a firm religion.. ; where do we get the right? Where is the jurisdiction?
This ongoing polarization, under the eyes of God, may culminate in the Apocalypse foretold in the christian Bible, the "final days".
then, God will be the judge.
