A Bangladeshi living in New Zealand has been accused of having his wife murdered for millions of dollars in insurance money after her body was found in a barrel on a roadside in Bangladesh.

The Daily Star newspaper in Bangladesh reported that the 26 year old woman was found dead on Tuesday, and the brotherf her New Zealand based husband, was arrested.

The woman had lived here in NZ for many years with her husband. She returned to Bangladesh just last month.

New Zealand police could not confirm whether any applications had been made to extradite her husband back to Bangladesh.

The man had reportedly confessed to Bangladeshi police that the woman had ben killed on he husband's instructions so he could claim millions of dollars of life insurance on policies taken out in NZ.

The woman's brother in law admitted to hiring a hit man
who had also been arrested and confessed.He had drugged the woman before the hitman strangled her.

They then put her body inside a barrel and handed it overto a rickshaw -van puller to dispose of it. The body was found the same night.
