Horray!
My trainees have just ended their course. Now it's time for them to go all out to look for a job. I knew from the beginning that they'll face lots of difficulties. I was right.
Every now and then I have to check on them to see what they are doing. Are they staying at home or out looking for a job?
How I wish I can be of greater help.
I tried to locate some business owners who have vacancies to help, but most prefer to hire those not recommended by me.
Why?
My trainees are most graduates, with a college diploma or a first degree. But life is not so rosy for them. Lady Luck has not been smiling or even winking at them YET! They were given turned away by the job interviewers or business owners even though the jobs were not taken.
Some of the feedback were, they are not ready for the jobs; they are 'over' qualified for certain jobs like clerks or customer service officers.
Yet, all these trainees want is experience. I talked to a business owner the other day, persuading him to take in a trainee with the view of offering the trainee the job after the end of her probation period. He agreed .... only to interview her.
If life is a bed of roses for others, then, to my trainees, life is a bed full of thorns. OUCH! They dare not lied about their qualifications and experience. That's also the reason why they attend the course in the first place......
I just want to ask every business owner out there .....
If no one gave you the opportunity in the first place, would you be where you are now?
