8th And Ocean and Why Watching Beautiful People is Addicting

The new show on MTV 8th & Ocean is about models, males and females. It's a reality show just following the lives of these models and it's already so addicting.

Why do we like to watch beautiful people? I guess it beats watching ugly people?

So, there's these twins on the show. Your regular blonde beautiful model twins. It's funny because they're both so different. Kelly is the outgoing, center of attention twin, and she's doing so well with her modeling career. Her sister Sabrina, though, is shyer and feels like she's in her sister's shadow all the time. I personally like her better, but it looks like she may fail to become a model if she doesn't learn to be herself.

In the last episode I saw, and I admit I don't know if I've seen them up to date.. there was talk of them seperating to pursue their careers without each other. I'm interested in how that turns out.

In the last show I saw a new model Britt from Kansas arrived on the scene. She claimed she "couldn't dance". Someone that looks that good knows how to dance, I don't care if she's from Kansas. You could totally see her lying eyes, acting all innocent.

Turns out she's a bit of a whore, anyway.

Anyway I lost my train of thought. Has anyone else seen the show and what do you think? If I could remember when it's on I would watch it more often because it IS addicting.

Bits & Pieces

I've only seen bits and pieces of this show... but it's one that I'd really like to sit down and watch from beginning to end. I'm a sucker for MTV reality shows... you're talking to a girl who watched Laguna Beach and Newlyweds RELIGIOUSLY... ;-) So, maybe I'll just have to wait for the DVD to come out...

What's the deal with "Britt"?

I watched a couple of episodes today and that Britt-girl kept popping up. She's the one who has a crush on Teddy, right? Isn't she a virgin, though?

Also, the twins are great... I especially like the evil twin (don't know what her name is). When she told her sister, "We're not the same!" after she was complaining about not being allowed to go on casting calls because of her "skin problems". Hilarious...

I guess there are worse things in this world than being beautiful ;-)

You need to write to write more about this show! Otherwise you're going to force me to watch it every week...:)

I know!! I watch it and plan to write and then I forget to and then figure its old news so I dont.. I'll try to be better about it :)

Yeah Britt likes Teddy and then Teddy hookedup with some other girl. I feel really bad for Sabrina. You sure hit the nail on the head, Kelly is such an evil twin, you can see it in her face constantly and yet Sabrina takes it.

I'll definitely write more next week. I have some good reads on it too. :)

The evil twin is definitely my favorite...

There was also this black girl who was being told by the lady who runs the agency that she was too skinny... and the model almost cried when she heard this... sheesh...

Well keep writing even if it is old stuff... there is hardly anything out there about 8th & Ocean... I'll link this post to one of my other blogs and hopefully bring more readers... so keep writing!!!

why did i get rid of my cable!

since i am hopelessly addicted to ANTM, i know i would love this show too. i had my party daze in miami while i modeled there years ago....so watching this show might be too much of a nostalgic trip......then again all the girls are probably 12 years old and would just make me feel like a bitter old hag. ;-)

You should totally watch the show! The girls ARE pretty young (how young, I don't know... Tamiya might) but I very much doubt you'd feel like a bitter old hag in comparison ;-) You're not a Janice Dickinson-type are you? ;-) (SHE'S HORRIBLE!)

The first time I saw the show I didn't like it at all. Then that station showed re-runs so many times that I decided I do enjoy it. The girls are all 25 and under I believe. I think the black girl with the big hair is the oldest, being 25.
The thing I like about it; it DOES show a real side of the modeling industry. It shows what it feels like to be told you're not good enough - loose weight, gain weight, change your hair, you have bad skin, etc. I used to model too. I think thats why at first glance, I hated the show. I had the same feelings as model mom. I thought, "This is so far from the truth." Thrn I actually watched it.
Seroiusly, it's worth the time. And there's nothing else on during the day.

How this old blog suddenly gets new interest and is almost up to 200 reads. I'm such a nerd, I love the trends and figuring out the drivers that make this stuff happen. I mean, was this getting search reads and so someone noticed it on recently viewed or did someone pick it up from similar entries? So many ways old blogs get new life here and it's not even that big yet. See, I'm a nerd.

new legs on old blogs

An old one of mine has had at least two bursts. One, which happened before the "Similar content" utility was available, came about, I swear, because I went to edit the blog, it therefore showed up in the "Last viewed" box, it got enough reads from that to make the "Popular Content" list (which in my experience is good for at least doubling the hits you'd otherwise get), and bingo. The second burst came when I showed it to a WritingUp member, and she must have shared it around.

I wonder how many potheads were attracted to the title and came away disappointed ... :)

Actually her blog is listed on sirlinksalot.net and I think that brings over a lot of readers. MTV Reality Shows have always been popular... and people want to know what other people think about the show... and the behind-the-scenes stuff.... so, I think THAT'S why it's popular.

I keep telling her she needs to write more about this show! ;-)

I totally agree, but then I'm partial. I've been dating an engineer/computer geek for more than five years now. He doesn't wear a pocket protector, but he can fix some computers. He also has a collection of old computer parts that refuses to admit are useless, but what do I know? :)

the reason why we love it is because of the beautiful people as well as the fact that we see young kids making tons of money and still complaining about having to get up and go to work and their job is so hard...give me a break...tell me a look fat, as long as I get a nice paycheck I don't care...

I bought a new desktop shortly before Christmas. Just a cheapo to replace the #3 desktop in the house. Nothing like the fancy-pants laptop I bought in January. Of course, after taking down the old #3 desktop I yanked the 30gb hd in it and put it into the #1 desktop in the house for storing downloaded movies and the like. Unfortunately, even before I opened it up to yank the hd I realized it had 384mb of RAM I don't actually have a use for and probably never will but can't bring myself to part with. And, it has a fantastic SCSI card that I also have no current use for but am sure one of these days I will because I generally prefer SCSI hds, they're just so much faster.

Here's the kicker, though. Since, I don't actually have a current use for those I never took them out, so I've still got the whole box. Which might not be that bad in and of itself. But, I already had three whole computers currently not in service (two of which are pentium 4's) and at least two 17" monitors that I'm sure I paid a mint for back in the day so they're still hanging out, too.

Of course, all these things might still have a use. I also have various antique items like 2400baud modems, original SoundBlaster sound cards, easily a dozen ethernet cards, ethernet hubs, routers, a DSL modem, enough phone like to wrap around the world twice, Ys and inlines for the phone line, printer cables, phones, a Cap'n Crunch 2600Hz whistle... shit, I need to sell that one on ebay.

Ok, wanna know the worst part? For about 10 years I held onto an old 486 box that had the CTRL-ALT-MINUS/CTRL-ALT-PLUS magic that let you clock it down to equivalent to a 286. Then one day I moved and decided I really wasn't using it and it could go... I regret that decision every day of my life. Because of this I'll probably never let anything go again.
